Baylor vs Oklahoma State Odds, Picks and Predictions: Bears End Road Woes in Stillwater

The Baylor Bears battle the Oklahoma State Cowboys at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater, Oklahoma on Monday night in a key Big 12 conference showdown.

Baylor snapped a mini two-game slide with an impressive 81-72 win and cover against Texas last time out on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Oklahoma State is in the midst of a four-game losing streak, while also failing to cover in any of those setbacks. As a result, the Cowboys have slid from 7-5 in the Big 12 to four games under .500, putting their NCAA tournament hopes in severe jeopardy.

Baylor throttled Oklahoma State in the first meeting on January 14 at Ferrell Center, as the Bears comfortably cashed as 7.5-point favorites.

Can Baylor complete the regular-season sweep of OSU or will the Cowboys score a much-needed Q1 win and keep its postseason hopes afloat?

Baylor has been very good on its home floor, posting seven straight victories. However, its troubles have mostly been on the road this season, as the Bears have dropped back-to-back road tilts and three of its last four away from home.

The good news for potential Baylor backers is that the three road losses during the four-game span have all come against ranked opponents. Oklahoma State isn’t close to being inside the Top 25.

The Cowboys have not only dropped four in a row while going 0-4 ATS, but three of those came by double digits. 

In the first meeting, OSU hit just 38% (23 of 60) from the field, while going 21% (7 of 33) from behind the 3-point line. It also managed to hit just 62% (5 of 8) from the charity stripe, while turning it over 10 times.

Baylor outrebounded Oklahoma State 35-27 while shooting 46% (25-for-54) from the floor and 9-for-24 from downtown. 

The Bears have been rolling on offense this season, scoring 78.1 points per game, and they’re a tremendous 3-point shooting team (36.9%). While OSU has a decent defense to make life hard on the Baylor offense, the Cowboys are abysmal offensively.

Oklahoma State has managed to average just 69.5 ppg, while ranking in the bottom third in the nation with a 31.8% 3-point average.

The Cowboys might hang with the Bears for a half, but look for Baylor's superior offense to eventually pull away. The fact you can catch Baylor laying less than a bucket seems too good to be true.

The Bears have ended up covering five of the past seven games overall, while also going 5-2 ATS in the past seven against winning teams.

The Bears have also been stacking covers, going 5-2-1 ATS in the past eight games following a cover. While Baylor has managed a 1-3-1 ATS mark in the past five road games, all three non-covers were against Top-25 teams, so don’t let that dissuade you from backing the Bears.

The Cowboys have dropped four in a row while going 0-4 ATS overall. Two of those losses were on their home floor, both against ranked teams.

OSU appears to have hit a major wall defensively. It is allowing just 66.5 ppg overall on the season while ranking No. 23 in the country with a 40.4% defensive FG%. However, that’s all out the window lately, with the Cowboys allowing 85 or more points in three of the past four losses.

Look for Baylor to go on the road and easily cover the number.

Baylor vs Oklahoma State Over/Under analysis

The trends are the complete opposite for these teams, with plenty of Unders for Baylor and plenty of Over results for Oklahoma State.

The Under is 4-1 in the past five road games for the Bears, while going 6-2 in the past eight games following a win.

For the Cowboys, the Over has cashed in four of the past five games at home, while going 8-2 in the past 10 games overall. As mentioned, Oklahoma State had an outstanding defense early in the season, but lately, it has slacked off tremendously.

Look for Baylor to get into the 80s, similar to its most recent game against Texas. The Bears have posted 79 or more points in four of the past seven games, and it should put up big points against the Cowboys here.

Oklahoma State is very giving lately, and it won’t stop the bleeding against another ranked team.
