Colorado State vs Boise State odds
This odds widget represents the best odds available for each betting market from regulated sportsbooks.
Boise State opened as a 3.5-point favorite against Colorado State, but the Rams are now mostly getting 2.5 points at the moment. That could have a lot to do with the way people are betting this game, but it also might be an indication that Emmanuel Akot is on the wrong side of questionable for Boise State. The total, which opened at 130.5, hasn’t moved much just yet.

Spread analysis
Boise State is one of the best defensive teams in all of college basketball, as the Broncos are eighth in the nation in adjusted defensive efficiency (all efficiency stats from KenPom).
This Boise State team does, however, struggle to put up points, as the team is just 133rd in the nation in adjusted offensive efficiency. The Broncos could also be without Akot in this game, and he is the team’s third-leading scorer this season.
Boise State just looks like a different team without him, and it also wouldn’t be ideal if he comes back at anything less than 100% health.
While having an elite defense is great, Colorado State is 19th in the nation in adjusted offensive efficiency and a great offense normally is enough to get the best of a great defense. The Rams also have one of the best players on the planet in junior David Roddy. The guard — who plays more like a power forward — is averaging 19.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.1 blocks and 1.1 steals per game this season, and he’s doing so on 57.8% shooting from the floor and 49.3% shooting from deep.
Built like a linebacker, Roddy is unstoppable when barreling his way to the basket, but he also has a feathery touch on his jumper. Don’t be surprised if he completely dominates this game, as he averaged 21.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game in two meetings with the Broncos last year. He’s a much more complete player now, too.
Isaiah Stevens and John Tonje are also plenty capable of pitching in and helping Roddy, and their presence just shows how much of an advantage Colorado State will have in the backcourt in this game. Having great guard play is huge when trying to keep your composure in a hostile building, and that’s one of the reasons you can count on the Rams to cover here. And realistically, Colorado State should win outright.
Prediction: Colorado State +2.5 (-105)
Over/Under analysis
Before these teams combined to score 162 points in their meeting on January 29, 2021, the Under had hit in six games in a row between these two programs. Look for this one to get back to being a bit on the low-scoring side, as that’s just the way that Boise State plays. The Broncos look to slow things down and have their defense give them a chance, and they should be able to dictate the style of play in this game. They just should have trouble executing on the offensive end, which is why Colorado State is the right play — even in a low-scoring game.
The Under is actually 7-0 when Colorado State has played in games with a total between 130 and 139.5 this season, so the team’s elite offense hasn’t been able to help Over bettors overcome games that are expected to be low scoring. The average total points scored in those games was 124.9 points per game.
The Under is also 11-1 when Boise State is coming off a game in which the team attempted at least 20 free throws more than its opponent under head coach Leon Rice. Back it again tonight.
Prediction: Under 130.5 (-110)
Best bet
Since Rice took over as head coach of Boise State, the Broncos are 2-14 ATS in home games with totals between 130 and 134.5. At the same time, Colorado State is 7-3 SU and 6-3-1 ATS on the road this year. And if that’s not enough, Boise State is 1-5 ATS in its last six games as a favorite.
The Broncos are a very good basketball team this year, but they just don’t have the offense to overcome a Rams team that can really put the ball in the hoop. Colorado State’s Roddy is going to be the best player on the floor by a wide margin, and he should help his team get this big win.
