Duke vs South Carolina Prediction, Picks & Odds for Today’s Women’s March Madness Elite 8 Game

No. 2 seed Duke lost to No. 1 seed South Carolina by 11 earlier in the season, and our women's March Madness betting picks expect a similar outcome in the rematch in this Birmingham Regional final.

We’ve reached the Elite Eight of the Birmingham Regional, and the top seeds held to form as the No. 2 Duke Blue Devils meet the No. 1 seed South Carolina Gamecocks.

The Gamecocks are heavily favored for a reason, and my Duke vs. South Carolina predictions favor a comfortable Gamecocks victory.

Read on for my Women’s March Madness picks for Sunday, March 30.

Who will win Duke vs South Carolina?

It's hard to bet against South Carolina, and I won’t because I believe they will comfortably defeat the Duke.

Today’s Birmingham Regional Elite Eight matchup is a rematch from their December meeting, an 81-70 win at South Carolina. South Carolina ate in the paint, and Duke sent the Gamecocks to the line 19 times as they couldn’t stop the South Carolina inside onslaught.

Expect this game to be close for a while, and this contest could get extremely physical. That suits South Carolina, and that’s why they should win comfortably this afternoon.

Duke vs South Carolina prediction

My best bet: South Carolina -7.5 (-115 at bet365)

Defending Women’s March Madness champion and No. 1 seed South Carolina Lady Gamecocks are coming off a tough fight against Maryland. The Gamecocks shot miserably from everywhere, committed 18 turnovers, and still won.

The Terrapins gave the Gamecocks all they could handle and more, but South Carolina’s vets came through, and now they have a tough matchup against the No. 2 seed Duke Blue Devils.

This is the same Blue Devils squad they beat by 11 points back in December in Columbia. Cloe Kitts posted a strong double-double (21-11), and the Gamecocks benefited from 57% shooting from inside and 50% from outside the arc.

South Carolina also held Duke to 44% shooting from the field and 37% from beyond the arc. The Blue Devils sent the Gamecocks to the charity stripe 19 times but did out-rebound South Carolina (33-28).

Both teams are deep, but Duke won’t easily contain the Gamecocks in the paint, and South Carolina is unlikely to shoot as poorly as they did against Maryland.

South Carolina has been there, done that, and has the hardware to prove it. They know they are in for a fight, but they will respond like champions and comfortably advance to the Final Four.

South Carolina -8.5

I’m expecting a signature game from the Gamecocks on both ends of the floor today.

South Carolina has a nice edge in size and experience. The Gamecocks got anything they wanted offensively against the Blue Devils in December, and the same should hold today.

Duke is the No. 2 seed for a reason. In their last meeting, they hung 70 points on South Carolina while shooting poorly from everywhere and attempting only seven free throws. This game also features two of the highest-scoring benches in the Women’s March Madness tourney — I’m expecting a high-scoring clash and adding the Over to this three-leg ticket.
