The Michigan Wolverines (16-13, 10-9) go on the road this afternoon for a date with the No. 23-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes (19-9, 12-7).

The Buckeyes bounced back from two bad losses (at Maryland, vs. Nebraska) with an 80-69 win over Michigan State as 5.5-point home favorites.

Meanwhile, the Wolverines have been alternating wins and losses of late and will look to get back into the win column after a loss on Thursday.

Will the Buckeyes win and cover on Senior Day? Find out in our college basketball picks and predictions for Michigan vs. Ohio State.

Michigan vs Ohio State picks and predictions

Our side and total predictions are based upon our analysis of the line and total in this game. Our best bet is our favorite pick across all markets.

Spread analysis

When these teams met in Ann Arbor on February 12, the Buckeyes cruised to an 11-point victory as 2.5-point road dogs behind 28 points and five rebounds from E.J. Liddell.

Michigan's season has been disappointing by nearly any metric. After entering the season as one of the March Madness odds favorites, the Wolverines are just 10-9 in Big Ten play ahead of this afternoon's regular-season finale.

The Buckeyes have been inconsistent at times, even dropping two games to Maryland and Nebraska over the last week and change, but they'll be uber-focused to put on a show for Senior Day and roll into the Big Ten tournament with some momentum.

OSU's offense ranks 11th per KenPom's offensive efficiency rating and ranks inside the Top 50 in nearly every major shooting statistic. They're a well-oiled machine that can beat you in a variety of ways offensively.

In front of an energetic home crowd, Liddell & Co. should get whatever they want against a Wolverines defense that ranks 89th and has been getting torched of late, allowing 82 points to Iowa and 93 to Illinois in just their last three games.

While Hunter Dickinson has been a matchup nightmare for nearly everyone in the Big Ten, he was held to just 14 points in 36 minutes in the first matchup.

On top of that, Michigan has really struggled away from home (4-7 SU, 4-7 ATS) and enters one of the Big Ten's toughest buildings in Value City Arena, where the Buckeyes have cruised to the tune of 13-2 SU and 9-6 ATS records.

Ohio State has laid some eggs of late, but that won't be the case this afternoon. They've been the better team all year long and have a chance to sweep the season series against its biggest conference rival on Senior Day.

I'm backing E.J. Liddell and the Buckeyes at home.

Prediction: Ohio State -3.5 (-110)

Over/Under analysis

The first matchup between these conference rivals stayed well Under its total of 141 (68-57) but I'm expecting much more offense this afternoon.

Both of these squads rank inside the Top 25 in adjusted offensive efficiency while also ranking just 89th and 121st on the defensive side.

Also, you don't want to be on the Under today with the way Michigan's defense has been playing of late. In its last three games, they've played to totals of 153, 158, and 178.

On the other side, Ohio State has played to totals of 149, 148, 135, 169, and 149.

These teams combine for an Over/Under record of 33-24. Don't let the first matchup scare you — the Over is the right play today.

Prediction: Over 141.5 (-110)

Best bet

I like the Over a lot in this matchup but I'm sticking with Buckeyes -4.5 as my best bet.

Ohio State's 13 wins inside Value City Arena have come by an average margin of 15.2 points. Look no further than the Thursday night matchup with Michigan State, where they won by 11 as 5.5-point home favorites.

It's Senior Day, the crowd will be rocking, and the Buckeyes will take care of business as a result. Lay the number.

Pick: Ohio State -3.5 (-110)
