The Boilermakers have won six straight in conference play and are currently 10-3 in the Big Ten. However, in the first meeting between Purdue and Michigan, Michigan only lost 82-76, sticking around until the final buzzer on the road.

Spread analysis
Purdue has been the better team this year, without question. But when it comes to talent, Michigan can match up with any team in the nation.
The Wolverines are 6-5 in conference play but still have a chance at making it into the NCAA Tournament.
Michigan is shooting an effective field goal percentage of 52.6% while only turning the ball over 17.8% of the time. The Wolverines also earn 31.4% offensive rebounds while hitting 34.3% from deep and 53.1% from inside the arc.
Everything Michigan does is at an above-average level on the offensive end. The Wolverines won’t shoot a whole lot of threes, but against Purdue, any offense is capable of sticking around, especially at home.
Purdue is allowing teams to shoot a 49.3% effective field goal percentage and will rarely force turnovers. On the defensive glass, Purdue excels, but the Boilermakers are allowing teams to shoot almost 34% from deep along with 48.6 percent from inside.
On the other hand, Michigan’s defense is very similar to Purdue. The Wolverines are also far from being elite on the defensive end but will have to face one of the more elite offenses in the nation.
Michigan is holding opponents to 31.3% from outside and 50.1% inside. That’s where Purdue will have to dominate the game. The Boilermakers might not shoot their average of 41.1% from deep, but inside, Purdue should dominate, as they score 57.3% inside the arc this season.
Rebounding won’t be as easy for the Boilermakers, despite earning 36.8% offensive rebounds. Michigan is only allowing 24.3% offensive rebounds and also do as good of a job limiting fouls and keeping teams off the line.
Like most Big Ten teams, Michigan doesn’t force turnovers, but the Wolverines will have to find a way to prevent Purdue from getting too many looks, knowing the Boilermakers average a 59% effective field goal percentage this season.
Michigan’s offense isn’t what Purdue’s is, but at home, I’d expect Michigan to hang around offensively. The Wolverines have been above average in most categories offensively and at home, with the crowd on their side, the Wolverines should be able to at least keep this game close and cover the spread.
Prediction: Michigan +3 (-110)
Over/Under analysis
The total dropped from 150 at open to as low as 145. Now, I think it’s time to take the Over here.
Neither team is real quick to get down the floor, but both offenses are very good at effectively scoring.
Purdue is way above average in every category, from 41.1% from deep to 57.3% from inside. Meanwhile, again, if Michigan wants to come close and win this game, the Wolverines will have to keep up offensively.
I’d take the Over now. The line movement went too far.
Prediction: Over 145 (-110)
Best bet
How many upsets have we seen this week? Well, we’re about to see another one tonight.
The Wolverines have all the pieces to make a run in the Big Ten. A win at home against Purdue, would start something big for this underachieving Michigan team.
Talent was never a question at Michigan. The Wolverines will compete against Purdue and likely win outright.
