Don’t be surprised if Georgetown hangs around early. This is what the Hoyas do. But eventually, Georgetown runs out of gas and the opposition keeps pounding away.

Georgetown is currently shooting 46.5% from deep and hitting just 43.7% from inside the arc. From downtown, Georgetown has hit 34.3%, which isn’t bad and the Hoyas also bring down 31.7% offensive rebounds. However, Georgetown isn’t consistently getting to the line and turns the ball over 18.6% of the time. 

On the other hand, Seton Hall’s defense has been close to elite. The Pirates are holding teams to a 45.8% effective field goal percentage with teams shooting just 31% from three and 45.5% from inside the arc. 

The Pirates aren’t going to dominate the defensive glass, but Seton Hall gets the job done, allowing just 27.7% offensive rebounds per game this season. 

On the other hand, the Pirates aren’t a great shooting team, hitting just 33.2% from three and 46.8% from inside the arc, but like the Hoyas, Seton Hall makes up for it on the offensive glass. The Pirates also get to the line more frequently and do a better job of limiting turnovers.

Georgetown has been awful defensively and has made every Big East team look like an elite offense. Opponents have shot 37% from three and 52.7% from inside the arc against the Hoyas this season. 

Eventually, Seton Hall will pull away. It might be in the second half. Don’t panic. It’ll happen.

Over/Under analysis

Despite Georgetown being a terrible offense, the Hoyas like to move quickly. Georgetown is using 16.8 seconds per possession this season and still shoots a solid rate from 3-point land. 

At the end of the day, second chances will come in handy for Georgetown and that will allow the Hoyas to help chip in to get this game Over the total.

Georgetown is allowing an effective field goal percentage of 53.9% and continues to do nothing right on the defensive end.

Overall, with both teams running a fast offense, I like this game to get Over the total. I wouldn’t be surprised if Seton Hall finished this game in the 80s.

Best bet

I don’t advise taking Seton Hall in the first half. Georgetown has made a habit of sticking around early, but like I continue to say, it’s the second-half collapses for Georgetown that are just so deflating. 

The Hoyas can never come out of the second half ready to go. Seton Hall has so many big bodies down low and plenty of guys who can drain open looks from anywhere on the floor.

This team has had to deal with so many injuries and sicknesses throughout the year. But that’s just going to make them hungrier.
