Spread analysis
Both of these AAC teams have been extremely inconsistent this year.
Temple isn’t a major threat on offense. The Owls only shoot a 45.8% effective field goal percentage while knocking down just 30.3% of threes and 46% of twos. However, Temple makes its presence known on the offensive glass, earning 32.4% of offensive rebounds. The Owls also get to the line at a high rate and stay aggressive on the offensive end.
So, while the offense has struggled from the field, the Owls will earn second chances and find ways to get to the foul line. But still, even when Temple does get to the line, the Owls are shooting just 67.5% from the charity stripe.
On the other hand, Memphis is the complete opposite on the defensive end, which makes for an interesting matchup. Memphis has held opponents to a 46.6% effective field goal percentage and teams are only hitting 32.8% from deep and 44.6% from inside the arc.
However, opponents have grabbed 31.8% offensive rebounds against Memphis and it continues to foul at a high rate.
What you see is what you get with these teams. Temple isn’t going to shoot well but the Owls will do the little things to stick around as much as they can on the road.
On the other hand, Memphis has just been careless with the ball on the offensive end. The Tigers are turning the ball over 23.1% of the time. That’s just unacceptable. Meanwhile, Temple only averages 17% turnovers.
The Tigers are certainly the better offense, shooting an effective field goal percentage of 52.9% while knocking down over 35% from long range and 52.5% from inside the arc. On the offensive glass, Memphis earns 36.8% of offensive rebounds and outshines Temple in that area.
However, Temple has been solid defensively, holding opponents to a 44.9% effective field goal percentage this year. Therefore, if Temple can stick to its averages on both ends of the floor, the Owls should be able to cover the double-digit spread.

Over/Under analysis
I know both of these defenses are extremely good. However, Temple and Memphis will both earn plenty of second chances with high offensive rebounding rates.
Both teams will also get to the foul line at a high rate and Memphis is still very capable of having a good night shooting the basketball, especially at home.
The Tigers move quickly on offense and opposing teams try to do so against Memphis as well. So, let’s take the Over 137.5.

Temple is starting to get a little hot. Despite not having the best offensive numbers this season, the Owls are 15-9 and 8-5 in conference play. The offense scored 75 against a quality Cincinnati defense and found a way to get past SMU at home, winning 64-57 in that one.
