Auburn vs Texas A&M predictions

Auburn has won four of its last five games and the lone loss in that stretch came against the Georgia Bulldogs, who have looked unbeatable this season. The Tigers earned a road win over the Arkansas Razorbacks back on October 16, and they followed it up with a 31-20 home victory over the Ole Miss Rebels on October 30. This team is playing extremely well on both sides of the ball, and it should have a chance to win this game in College Station.

Coming into this game, the Aggies are really struggling to throw the football, with the team passing for less than 200 yards in four of the last five games. It’s going to be a major issue if quarterback Zach Calzada can’t make timely throws in this game, as the Tigers are allowing only 127.1 yards per game on the ground. Auburn isn’t capable of fully stopping Texas A&M star Isaiah Spiller, but the team should be able to keep him somewhat in check. That would mean that Calzada will have to make throws like he did in the team’s win over Alabama. However, it’s hard to believe he can when he hasn’t consistently done so.

At the same time, the Auburn offense should be able to move the ball in this game. There’s no denying that this Aggies defense is as elite as they come, but quarterback Bo Nix has been in a groove lately. The junior comes into this game after having thrown for 284.0 yards per game in back-to-back wins over ranked opponents in Arkansas and Ole Miss. Nix threw for three touchdowns and only one pick in those games, and he also rushed for 72 yards and three scores over those two weeks. He has grown a lot in his third year as the starter, and his presence is a real reason that Auburn has a chance to win this game outright — which is not something that many people would have said a year ago.

Only three teams in college football have allowed fewer points per game than Texas A&M, which is giving up only 16.1 points per game. The Aggies are coming off back-to-back games of allowing 14 points, and only one team this year has reached the 30-point mark against them. Meanwhile, Auburn just allowed only 21.5 points per game over two games against Arkansas and Ole Miss. Those are two high-powered offenses, and the Tigers are allowing only 19.8 points per game themselves. These are two very good defenses, which makes it hard to believe the offenses will combine to score 50 points.

It’s also worth noting that the Under is 11-3 in Auburn games against SEC opponents since the start of last season. On top of that, the Under is 6-1 when Texas A&M is coming off a cover as a double-digit favorite under head coach Jimbo Fisher.
