Betting trend to know

Against the Spread (ATS) Pick

While 27.5 points is a big line to cover, that's what happens when you've been as dominant as the Bearcats. Cincinnati is one of the best defensive teams in the country, holding FBS foes to just 10 points per game and its offense has made rapid strides in recent weeks, averaging 487.3 yards and 43 points per game over the last three contests.

Each of the Bearcats last three wins have come by at least 28 points and it wasn't like they were destroying trash teams, with two of those victories coming against Memphis and Southern Methodist, which entered this season with AAC championship expectations.

With a 1-5 SU record this season, East Carolina IS a trash team. And although they've looked solid offensively, they don't have the talent to move the ball on Cincy. Take the Bearcats to win (and cover) and grab this line before it grows to more than four touchdowns.

PREDICTION: Cincinnati -27.5 (-110)

Over/Under Pick

The Pirates are surrendering a whopping 37.2 points per game, which has led to them going 4-2 to the Over this season. That said, their capable offense under veteran quarterback Holton Ahlers has also been a factor in that, with East Carolina putting up a respectable 29.2 ppg of its own.

Don't expect anywhere near that level of success against the Bearcats stifling defense. Cincinnati shut down two of the conference's most explosive offenses in SMU and Memphis in consecutive weeks, and East Carolina is nowhere near the level of those two programs.

With the Bearcats going 8-1 to the Under in their last nine AAC games take the Under on Friday night.

PREDICTION: Under 56.5 (-110)

First Half Bet

Dominant teams like Cincinnati often rest their top playmakers once they get up big on the scoreboard. For example, running back Gerrid Doakes leads the team with 511 rushing yards, but 351 of those yards have come during the first half of contests. Likewise, 724 of quarterback Desmond Ridder's 1,126 passing yards this year have come within the first 30 minutes.

While that makes the Bearcats a tough play on a full-game spread it makes their 1H lines a bit easier to swallow. Cincinnati is averaging 21 first-half points per game over their last three contests and is taking on a Pirates squad that has given up 19.3 first half ppg this season.

Back the Bearcats on the first half spread at -15.5.

PREDICTION: First Half Cincinnati -15.5 (-110)
