Wisconsin vs Nebraska Prediction and Picks for College Football Week 13

The total is between modest and low and yet, it's still going to cash the Under. These teams struggle on offense while their defenses are their bread and butter. Nebraska might win, but it doesn't mean it will score much on Wisconsin.

Two collapsing Big Ten teams will meet on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln when the Nebraska Cornhuskers host the Wisconsin Badgers with bowl eligibility on the line for both programs.

Find out why my Wisconsin vs. Nebraska predictions see a close, low-scoring game, as I serve up my best college football picks for Week 13 on Saturday, November 23 at 3:30 p.m. ET.

My analysis

Wisconsin almost pulled off a massive upset last week at home against the top-ranked Oregon Ducks, ultimately falling 16-13 despite showing off its defensive prowess. Holding Heisman candidate Dillon Gabriel to only 218 yards passing with no touchdowns and an interception is a good sign as the Badgers face a possible Heisman candidate in Dylan Raiola this weekend.

The Badgers allow only 20.9 points (34th, nationally) and 326.5 total yards per game (33rd). There are three outlier games where they got destroyed and allowed 38+. However, they were extremely outmatched in those games and offensive mistakes led to those high scores.

Meanwhile, Nebraska ranks 100th in scoring and 99th in total offense. The Cornhuskers have scored 20 or fewer points in five consecutive games against a mix of both good and bad defenses. Still, they have held their own defensively against some strong offenses, limiting the Ohio State Buckeyes to only 21 points last month.

Both teams are terrible at converting in the red zone as the Badgers rank 98th in red-zone scoring percentage and the Cornhuskers rank 126th. Nebraska also has serious issues with special teams as it's allowed five blocked field goals and three blocked punts. It has also only converted six of 18 fourth down attempts, meaning Nebraska turns the ball over on downs a ton.

With that said, the Cornhuskers are excellent at winning the time of possession battle, which tells you how long their drives take before leading to a turnover or missed opportunity. That is an excellent recipe for betting the Under even despite the low number.

Wisconsin vs Nebraska same-game parlay (SGP)

Under 42.5

Dante Dowdell 50+ rushing yards

Will Pauling 40+ receiving yards

We will add two Overs on player props that should help our odds and be able to hit without affecting the total. We will start with Nebraska running back Dante Dowdell.

The Wisconsin defense's one weakness is against the run as it ranks 88th nationally. Dowdell has run for 50+ yards in four of the past five games and three straight.

Finally, I will take Will Pauling to go for 40+ receiving yards. He was shut down each of the last two games — although he left injured last week — but he is one of the most talented wide receivers in the Big Ten. Nebraska is missing its top defensive back due to injury, opening the lane even further.
