We’re now in the final stages of NFL preseason where roster decisions need to be made and those on the bubble have to take their opportunities to seal a spot in the 53-man roster.
The Cleveland Browns travel to Atlanta to face the Falcons on Sunday in a game that will help finalize the rosters for both teams and give some starters action on the field, too.

Against the spread (ATS) pick
As always we’re going to be looking at who starts under center as one of the key aspects in defining who’ll we wager on in this game.
Falcons beat reporters believe that we’ll see Matt Ryan for a series, perhaps even two, but Atlanta will be using this game to find its backup quarterback with AJ McCarron tearing his ACL last Saturday. Undrafted free agent Feleipe Franks is battling against former first-round pick Josh Rosen, who was signed on Tuesday. Rosen’s failed to live up to his billing during his time in the NFL but would consider himself unlucky in many respects, as this really feels like it could be the last chance saloon for the Californian.
The road team has been holding its cards close to its chest regarding who’ll be playing this week. The only man who we know will play is Baker Mayfield, with coach Kevin Stefanski confirming that the QB and a select group of starters will play in this final tune-up game.
It’ll mark Mayfield’s first appearance in the preseason and he’ll be relishing the chance to put the league on notice. How much of him we see is still unknown, but for as long as he’s on the field the Browns will be dangerous.
Stefanski has been very risk-averse throughout the preseason, with the majority of his projected starters seeing little or no game time. He is said to have spoken to the Falcons’ Arthur Smith and both teams have made the decision to play a number of starters, in addition to those fighting for roster spots.
The Browns have won both of their preseason games so far, beating the Jaguars 23-13 and the Giants 17-13. There has been a real buzz about their play and Donovan Peoples-Jones looks like a real star.
The Browns are six-point favorites and we’ll be taking them to cover here, especially given the Falcons' horrid form in the preseason, which has seen them lose games against the Titans and Dolphins by 20 points each.
PREDICTION: Browns -6 (-110)
Over/Under pick
With a total points line of 36, the immediate thought is to back the Over. The Falcons have given up a combined 60 points in both games so far and Cleveland, especially one with Mayfield, feels more of a threat than the Titans and Dolphins.
Cleveland has been fantastic but it has also given up some points with weak Jaguars and Giants teams able to score touchdowns against them.
With starters likely to see some time on the field we should see stronger defenses but I still think we’ll see this total passed. It’s not out of the question to see either side put up 20 points and I believe we could see a real shootout here.
PREDICTION: Over 36 (-110)
Browns vs Falcons betting card
