Chargers vs Jets MNF Prop Bets: Wilson Continues to Cause Headaches for Gang Green

The Jets have a 4-3 record in the ugliest way possible, and this MNF matchup could be just as gross. Our NFL prop picks for this matchup anticipate both QBs to throw a pick, with Herbert making more silly mistakes and Wilson just being Wilson.

Monday Night Football returns to the scene of the crime in the Meadowlands, where Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles on opening weekend, as the Los Angeles Chargers go cross-country to take on the New York Jets.

The Week 9 odds are in favor of the road team, as they look to get back to .500 in the standings. However, the Jets have been a gritty team and have won three consecutive games with Zach Wilson callin the shots. Find out what my NFL picks are for this MNF affair when I take a deep dive into the MNF odds.

Be sure to also check out our Chargers vs Jets betting preview and a full breakdown of Justin Herbert odds!

Chargers vs Jets MNF props

Prop bet #1: Too aggressive

The Los Angeles Chargers have an aggressive offensive scheme and the New York Jets have an aggressive defensive scheme. When those mix, you can certainly expect some turnovers. Games involving the Jets this season have averaged 3.3 total turnovers.

Justin Herbert will be without one of his top receiving options in Joshua Palmer since he lost Mike Williams for the season. This may force him to lock in a bit more on Keenan Allen or possibly have some miscommunications with the new guys that step up in Palmer’s place. Either way, that could easily boost the Justin Herbert odds to throw a pick in this matchup.

New York ranks fifth in the NFL with eight forced interceptions this season. It got three picks from Jalen Hurts three weeks ago, two from Patrick Mahomes in Week 4, and three from Josh Allen in the opener.

Herbert just recently went through a three-game stretch of throwing four interceptions before having a clean game last week against the Bears. I believe the Jets' defense will be able to revert Herbert to that stretch and force at least one interception in this matchup.

Justin Herbert prop: Over 0.5 interceptions (+115 at bet365)

Prop bet #2: Sharing is (not) caring

While my first prop pick was for Herbert to throw an interception, my second prop pick will look at the Zach Wilson odds to give it right back. I mentioned how New York games have over 3 turnovers per game... well, that goes for both sides of the ball. The Jets rank 18th in the NFL with 10 giveaways this season.

While Wilson has been the starting QB during this three-game winning streak, he hasn't been the reason for success. He has a 57.9% completion percentage over those three games with one touchdown and one interception. This game could set up to force Wilson to throw the ball more often than the Jets would like.

The Chargers have the sixth-best rushing defense in the league, but the last-ranked passing defense in the NFL. However, despite being the worst pass defense in the league, they do rank 13th in interceptions forced with six. They just forced two interceptions from Tyson Bagent last week.

The game script will likely force Wilson into making more throws than he is used to. With five interceptions thrown already on the season, I believe there is a very good chance we see number six on Monday night.

Zach Wilson prop: Over 0.5 interceptions (-132 at FanDuel)

Prop bet #3: Hall of fame

Yes, I went negative with the first two props, but this game won’t be all bad. My final prop here will be looking at Breece Hall odds — specifically in the TD market.

Hall has been the lone bright spot for the Jets offense since they lost Rodgers in the first series of Week 1. He is averaging a stellar 5.7 yards per carry and has broken off big plays in the passing game as well.

While the Chargers have a good run defense in terms of yardage, they have allowed eight rushing touchdowns this season, which ranks 26th in the NFL. Hall will be the focal point of the offense for the Jets and he will find the endzone some way or another in this game.

Breece Hall prop: Anytime touchdown (+130 at PointsBet)
