The Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears square off in a Week 15 battle at Soldier Field in Chicago on Sunday.

The Eagles and Bears meeting on the shores of Lake Michigan will always make me think of Randall Cunningham trying to beat the Bears in the “Fog Bowl”. The Bears won 20-12 in that famous game but this is far from a playoff team, while the Eagles have the best record in the entire NFL.

Chicago probably wishes it could conjure up some fog, hail, snow, or anything to slow down this Philadelphia offensive juggernaut.

Who will win this fight between NFC teams headed in completely opposite directions? We’ll discuss in our NFL picks and predictions for Eagles vs. Bears on Sunday, December 18.

Eagles vs Bears best odds

Eagles vs Bears picks and predictions

The Eagles roll into play after throttling the New York Giants 48-22 last weekend, posting a fourth consecutive win and third straight cover.

Philadelphia gobbled up 253 rushing yards to go along with 184 passing yards, as QB Jalen Hurts threw for 217 yards and two scores while adding 77 yards on the ground with another touchdown. Miles Sanders also came up big with 144 yards and two rushing touchdowns.

The Eagles proved to the G-Men, and the rest of the NFL, that it isn’t just the MVP candidate Hurts that can beat teams, but teams need to account for Sanders, double trouble WRs A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, and more. And, we haven’t even touched on the defense yet.

Philly racked up seven sacks against the very mobile Daniel Jones in the Meadowlands, while also being very sound in the kicking game, too. In all facets, Philly was working it in Week 14, and it has been working it for most of the season, too.

Meanwhile, the Bears have racked up 10 losses already. Chicago hasn’t tasted victory since October 24, a Monday night game in New England. That’s six straight losses, and four consecutive non-covers, while losing the past two games to the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets by an average of 15.0 PPG.

It isn’t going to get better for the Bears playing on their home turf, and you can expect the Eagles to come in and roll Chicago to keep on track for home-field advantage through the playoffs.

My best bet: Eagles -8.5 (-110 at SportsInteraction)

Eagles vs Bears spread analysis

On the road, Philadelphia has racked up six victories in six tries, but it is just 2-4 ATS in those outings. So, we’re playing the Eagles to lay the points against the Bears here, but know that it does come with a little risk. Of course, last week Philly had little trouble cashing seven and a hook in the Meadowlands against a Giants team much tougher than this Bears unit.

Philadelphia has also cashed in three straight outings overall while going 3-0 SU and 2-1 ATS in three meetings against NFC North teams. So, Chicago isn’t likely to offer much resistance.

In fact, the Bears haven’t offered much resistance to anybody lately, dropped six straight games overall, while going 1-5 ATS. And the Bears have allowed 27 or more points in each of the past six, too.

Chicago won’t want to get into a shootout with these Eagles, especially since this is an unbalanced offense. The Bears rank No. 1 in the NFL in rushing per game at 189.2 yards per game, and that’s great. But this team is last in the league with 140.6 passing yards per game, and it isn’t built to come from behind.

If Chicago falls behind early, heaven help it. As an underdog of 8.5 or more points this season, the Bears are 1-4 SU and 2-3 ATS, including losses and non-covers in each of the past two instances. Philadelphia will add to those non-cover totals for Chicago.

Eagles vs Bears Over/Under analysis

The Eagles just dropped a season-high 48 points on the Giants last week, and Philadelphia has scored 35 or more points in each of the past three games. The Over has hit in seven of the past eight games overall, and the offense is good for 24 or more points in 10 of 13 games this season.

Philly ranks No. 3 in total yards per game at 392.0, and it is right behind Chicago with 162.2 rushing yards per game for No. 2 in the NFL. The Philadelphia offense players have to be licking their collective chops for the chance to face a Chicago defense allowing 25.6 PPG, No. 30 overall in the NFL.

Chicago has cashed the Over in each of the past seven games, too, and nine of its 13 games overall this season. It’s actually a little hard to believe that this total isn’t into the 50s, yet.

The only concern I have about playing the Over is the money flowing in from the public. The Over is being bet at nearly an 80% clip, and we all know the books don’t get it wrong and have to pay the people often on bets heavy on one side.
