Eagles vs Giants Week 14 Picks and Predictions: Eagles Run Amok

The Eagles should lean heavily on the run game Sunday, and their red-zone tendencies lead our NFL picks to believe they'll attack the Giants on the ground repeatedly. See what prop pick is our best bet for this Week 14 showdown.

The Philadelphia Eagles are inching closer to securing the top seed in the NFC but will get no favors from the New York Giants as these division rivals collide on Sunday.

For this season at least, the mood is always sunny in Philadelphia, and last weekend’s dominant 35-10 win over the Tennessee Titans stretched the Eagles’ record to 11-1 while furthering Jalen Hurts’ MVP case.

But there’s a little more gloom hanging over the Giants these days, with a 6-1 start fizzling out. At 7-4-1, New York is in danger of sliding out of the playoff spots.

Eagles vs Giants picks and predictions

Week after week, Philadelphia is forcing opponents to pick their poison as Jalen Hurts spearheads a punishing ground game and an explosive aerial attack. There’s really no easy answer to combat Nick Sirianni’s offense, and it’s become almost routine for the Eagles to reach the 30-point mark.

Last time out, they took down the Titans in the passing game, as Hurts threw for 380 yards and three touchdowns. A week earlier, Philadelphia piled up 363 rushing yards against the Green Bay Packers.

I expect the visitors to lean heavily on the ground game on Sunday against a Giants rushing defense that ranks in the bottom third of the league in yards allowed per game. Make no mistake, A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith should be busy too, but the Eagles’ offensive linemen are experts at controlling the line of scrimmage and opening up running lanes.

Hurts loves to take over in the red zone, especially around the goal-line, and both Miles Sanders and Kenneth Gainwell have had great success in goal-to-go situations. The Eagles have 23 rushing touchdowns so far this season — and they’ve had at least two scores on the ground in consecutive games.

I’m counting on that to continue, and I’ll be wagering on the Eagles’ rushing attack to find the end zone at least twice at MetLife Stadium.

My best bet: Eagles Over 1.5 rushing touchdowns (+145 bet365)

Eagles vs Giants spread analysis

This is the first of two meetings for these teams in the final month of the season, and it’s no surprise to see the Eagles as 7.5-point favorites. Philadelphia is a perfect 5-0 on the road and arrives on the back of two lights-out offense performances.

For a Giants team trying to steady the ship, this is just about the worst matchup that the schedule could serve up, though a division rivalry game might shake New York back into sharper form.

If you’re backing the G-Men, there are reasons to feel good — Daniel Jones has bounced back from a two-interception outing against the Detroit Lions with a couple of steady performances, and the hosts had their chances to win last weekend before having to settle for a tie with the Washington Commanders.

Though the Giants are 1-7 ATS in their last eight December games, they’ve covered the spread against the Eagles in five of the past seven matchups, including the last two at MetLife Stadium.

Perhaps the biggest question in a game that should see a heavy dose of rushing attempts for both teams is: how much does Saquon Barkley have left in the tank? New York gave its star running back all the touches he could handle in the first half of the season (to great success), but the production has waned since mid-November and he’s now fighting through a neck injury.

Eagles vs Giants Over/Under analysis

Taking the Under in any game that features the free-scoring Eagles is a risk, but this contest has a kitchen-sink feel to it for the Giants. Expect extra urgency from Brian Daboll’s men with the Commanders and Seattle Seahawks nipping at their heels — and that could spark a lower, tenser scoreline.

While Philadelphia has frequently trended towards the Over this season, the intensity of NFC East divisional games has to be factored in. The Under is 5-2 in the past seven meetings and 5-0-2 in New York’s last seven home games against a team with a winning road record.

With question marks over Barkley’s health, the absence of Dallas Goedert, and the strength of this Eagles defense, the Under is worth a look despite how relentless the Philadelphia offense has been this year.
