Josh Allen Odds and Props for Week 16: All In a Days Work

The Bills look to build on their mini two-game winning streak against a Chargers defense that was just gashed for 63 points last week. With Joe Brady calling the shots, Josh Allen's arm figures to be the key to their success this week vs LAC.

After a gut-wrenching loss to the Eagles two weeks ago, Josh Allen and the Bills have strung together two wins against some of the league's strongest contenders in the Chiefs and Cowboys. Josh Allen has combined for four touchdowns and just one turnover across those two games, providing a level of consistency that was sorely missing during the earlier parts of the season.

Week 16 odds will see Buffalo travel to take on the Justin Herbert-less Chargers, who may have newfound relief and motivation after former head coach Brandon Staley was fired after last week's embarrassing divisional loss.

Can Josh Allen and interim offensive coordinator Joe Brady keep the offense humming? Or will the Staley-less Chargers defense pose as a credible threat in Week 16?

Josh Allen Week 16 prop pick

Over 31.5 pass attempts (-110)

Since Joe Brady stepped in as offensive coordinator, the offense has been much better. Their first effort with Brady at the helm saw the Buffalo Bills put up 34 points in a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Eagles. The next two outings netted better results, with the Bills picking up a narrow win over the Chiefs and then a blowout win against one of the league's best defenses in the Cowboys.

Outside of last week's anomaly of a game (the Bills jumped out to an early 21-3 lead), Joe Brady has shown more trust in Josh Allen's arm. Against the Eagles, he tallied 51 pass attempts, and against the Chiefs, he put up another 42.

Some will look at the Bills being nearly two-touchdown favorites and assume that Buffalo will be running a lot in a projected blowout, but this game may be closer than we think. Teams tend to overperform following the firing of an undesirable coach (look at the Raiders after Josh McDaniel was canned) plus Buffalo is traveling from coast to coast on a short week for an 8 PM body clock start time.

Allen will have more reasons to pass than expected, plus his number is deflated due to the projected outcome of this game and the tendencies left behind during Ken Dorsey's time as offensive coordinator.

Josh Allen Over 31.5 pass attempts

James Cook 25+ receiving yards

Stefon Diggs Over 69.5 receiving yards

One of the biggest beneficiaries of the offensive coordinator change has been James Cook, who has seen more encouraging usage on the ground and in the passing game.

James Cook has had 16, 10, and 25 carries in the last three games. In his prior 11 games, he reached 16+ carries in all of just two games. He has also averaged 5.0 targets per game during that time compared to the 2.9 targets he averaged before the change, and he has averaged a whopping 60.7 receiving yards across those three games compared to the 22.8 he averaged prior.

Someone who has not lit up the box score since the change is Stefon Diggs, who has averaged just 48.7 yards per game since Brady took over. But Diggs' poor play has spanned for even longer than that, having failed to log a 100+ yard game since Week 6 after logging five such games in the first six weeks.

But it's not for lack of opportunities. Diggs has tallied 11, 11, and 5 targets in the last three games and the last of those three can again be attributed to the extreme game script that favored the run during the Bills' early beatdown of the Cowboys.

The opportunities have been there, and this week provides a perfect buy low on the star receiver.
