Raiders vs Titans picks and predictions
The offseason is where misinformation and camp hype dominate the media and narratives are formed, whether they hold much truth or not. Last year, we entered the season convinced that Ja’Marr Chase had a chronic drop problem and could barely catch a football.
This year, we were told about the struggles that the Treylon Burks was having. The 18th overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft, the Titans drafted Burks to replace AJ Brown, who was traded to the Eagles. During this offseason, we heard how Burks was struggling with the playbook, looked slow on the field, and was causing big concern in the Titans' organization.
Fast forward, and after two weeks of the season, he’s the highest-graded rookie wide receiver per Pro Football Focus and has already started to look like a great draft selection. His receiving yards line sits at 38.5 yards for Sunday as the Titans welcome the Raiders to Nashville, and I’m confident that the former Arkansas star can smash the Over.
Burks only has seven grabs on 11 targets through the season, but don’t let that worry you. He’s poised for a big game, and that will come sooner rather than later. He leads this year’s rookie haul in yards per route run at 3.40, ahead of Drake London at 2.76. Impressively that number is fifth in the entire NFL overall, behind only Stefon Diggs, Tyreek Hill, Rashod Bateman, and Jaylen Waddle.
The issue hasn’t been his performance but the lack of targets, and that's due to change. It’s worth noting that he’s eclipsed 38.5 yards in both games so far, with 55 in Week 1 and 47 in Week 2.
Given that the breakout performance from Burks is on its way, you can be confident he hits the Over here.
My best bet: Burks Over 38.5 receiving yards (-110 at bet365)

Spread analysis
The line has moved slightly since opening, with the Raiders dropping from 2.5 to 1.5 point favorites. This game is a battle of two 0-2 teams, and one of these teams will finally have a mark in the win column.
It’s not a start that either team would have wanted, but it’s fair to ask whether they are potentially sitting in a misleading position within their divisions. The Titans only lost by a point to the Giants and then got beaten by the Bills. There’s no shame in losing to Josh Allen and the Bills, but the manner of the defeat (41-7 blowout) is a concern.
The Raiders narrowly lost to the Cardinals last week in a dramatic game and fell to the Chargers the week before that. Those are two very good opponents who’ve beaten them, and they’ve looked solid in both games.
The Titans are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against AFC opponents, and with the quality teams that the Raiders have faced in recent weeks, you’d have to make the visitors the favorites here. I'm expecting Las Vegas to cover in this spot.
Over/Under analysis
I’ve got no strong lean here, but the total has dropped from 46.5 to 45.5 since opening, and the trends back it up.
The Raiders have scored a combined 42 points through weeks, with the Titans accumulating just 27. The Under is 6-1 in the Raiders' last seven games overall and 5-1 in their last six games against a fellow AFC team.
Meanwhile, the Under is 6-0 in the Titans' last six home games and 7-0 in their last seven games on grass.
