Flames vs Kings Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NHL Game

Calgary and Los Angeles have been no strangers to low-scoring affairs this season, and we expect their regular-season finale showdown to be no different.

The Calgary Flames have won three straight and surged down the stretch with a 10-2-3 run, but it wasn’t good enough to punch a playoff ticket.

They’ll wrap up their regular season against the Los Angeles Kings at Crypto.com Arena on Thursday, April 17, and my top Flames vs. Kings predictions and NHL picks forecast goals to be hard to come by tonight.

Flames vs Kings prediction

My Flames pick: Under 5.5 (+100 at BET99)

My Flames analysis
The Calgary Flames and Los Angeles Kings have both played to the Under this season, and with nothing on the line tonight’s regular-season finale, I’m not expecting an offensive outburst.

Los Angeles has allowed the fewest expected goals per 60 minutes at five-on-five, the second-fewest goals per game, and ranks eighth in penalty-kill percentage. The Kings are also 31-5-4 at Crypto.com Arena.

Meanwhile, Calgary hasn’t travelled particularly well this season, sporting a ho-hum 17-15-8 road record. Offense has been the problem, too. The Flames have scored the third-fewest goals per game (2.43) on the highway.

While Los Angeles could opt to rest regulars again tonight after Anze Kopitar, Drew Doughty, and Mikey Anderson sat out Tuesday, I’m not anticipating it making a notable difference in the final score.

If anything, it would help the Under. Expect both teams to play a simple, defense-first game to wrap up their regular seasons.

Flames vs Kings same-game parlay (SGP)

Flames +1.5 puck line

Under 5.5

Kevin Fiala Over 2.5 shots on goal

Even with the highlighted road struggles in mind, I like Calgary to show up and keep this game close. The Flames have won three straight to improve to an active 10-2-3 stretch, which has translated to the fifth-highest point percentage in the league.

Additionally, Calgary has shown off with a third-ranked 55.4 Corsi For percentage and a fifth-ranked 55.7 expected goals percentage at five-on-five during the 15-game run.

Turning to the final leg of this SGP, Kings winger Kevin Fiala has led the club in shots and attempts per 60 minutes to rank in the 96th percentile of forwards in shots on goal. He also paces Los Angeles forwards with a 56.5 CF% and 57.4% shot share at 5-on-5.
