The Winnipeg Jets’ chase for the franchise’s first Presidents’ Trophy continues Sunday when they welcome in the road-weary Vancouver Canucks.

Winnipeg starts Sunday a point ahead of the Capitals with 104 points; no other team has hit the century mark yet this season. They’ll look for their fourth win in five games as -215 favorites against a Canucks team that just lost a wild 7-6 shootout in Columbus.

Our Jets vs. Canucks predictions think the goaltending matchup should keep this one Under the total.

Jets vs Canucks prediction

My Jets pick: Under 5.5 (-130 at Pinnacle)

My Jets analysis
Since dropping three in a row at the start of March, the Winnipeg Jets have been cruising, losing just three times in their last 11 contests. The latest was a 4-0 win over the Devils, giving Winnipeg goalie Connor Hellebuyck his career-best seventh shutout in a season.

A lock for the Vezina Trophy as the league’s top netminder, Hellebuyck leads the NHL in wins (42-10-3), goals against average (2.03), save percentage (.925), and shutouts. He'll be looking for redemption Sunday, however, as the last time he saw Vancouver, the Canucks tagged him for five goals in a 6-2 defeat, tying for the most goals he’s allowed in a game this season.

The Vancouver Canucks, meanwhile, are desperate for wins, as they enter play six points back of St. Louis for the second and final Wild Card in the West. The good news is that Vancouver does have two games in hand, which won’t mean much if they can’t convert them into points.

They missed a golden opportunity in Columbus, blowing 3-0 and 5-3 leads to lose 7-6 in a shootout, at least salvaging a single point.

I think goals will come at a premium Sunday, as Vancouver will likely call upon Thatcher Demko between the pipes instead of Kevin Lankinen who was lit on fire in Columbus. Demko has been solid since returning from injury, picking up back-to-back wins before giving way to Lankinen on Friday.

Don’t worry that this Over has hit in four of the last five meetings: Vancouver needs to be sound defensively for any chance at two points, and Hellebuyck isn’t about to let the Canucks hang a big number on him in consecutive starts.

Jets vs Canucks odds analysis

Winnipeg has won six of the last eight meetings with Vancouver. The Jets have won each of their last eight games following a home win.

Winnipeg has gone Under the total in back-to-back games. Vancouver is 2-3 as a moneyline underdog in its last five games.
