The Philadelphia Flyers continue their season-long seven-game homestand with a matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight. Unfortunately for Philadelphia, returning to the Wells Fargo Center has resulted in a five-game losing streak for the club.
The Flyers have scored just eight goals in their last five games, including five in their last four. While the Lightning are coming off two straight losses of their own, my Lightning vs. Flyers predictions expect the Bolts to bounce back in the City of Brotherly Love.

Lightning vs Flyers prediction
My best bet: Lightning moneyline (-146 at FanDuel)
My analysis
The Tampa Bay Lightning opened around -175, but we’ve seen that drop 30 cents here on Thursday morning. The line movement coincides with some lineup news out of Tampa Bay’s morning skate.
Nikita Kucherov did not participate in Thursday’s morning skate, and backup netminder Jonas Johansson will get the start in net. Although the Lightning remain a team that is superior with Andrei Vasilevksiy manning the pipes, Johansson has comparable numbers to Philadelphia Flyers starter Sam Ersson (18-12-4, 2.97 GAA, .889 SV%).
Even with Kucherov potentially out, Tampa Bay boasts offensive weapons in Brayden Point, Jake Guentzel, and Brandon Hagel.
The Flyers have been a competitive team at times this season, but selling at the trade deadline hurt their chances. They’ve traded away four roster players (Joel Farabee, Morgan Frost, Scott Laughton, and Andrei Kuzmenko) with only Jakob Pelletier — who is stapled to the fourth line — to show for it. Add injuries to Garnet Hathaway and Rasmus Ristolainen, and you can see why the Flyers have lost five straight.
If this line does end up closer to that -175, look at the -1.5 as an alternate angle. All five of the Flyers’ losses during their current losing streak have come by multiple goals.
Lightning vs Flyers same-game parlay (SGP)
Point should adopt a more aggressive role on the top line if Kucherov misses the game, and he has consistently registered multiple shots on goal this season. He has averaged 2.54 shots per game, including 2+ in 45 of 59 contests.
The star center has recorded a point in 44 games this season and has yet to go three consecutive games without finding the scoresheet.
