The Edmonton Oilers will look to snap a two-game skid as they welcome the hottest team in hockey, the St. Louis Blues, to Rogers Place tonight.

Edmonton remains without both Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, which places the onus on Evan Bouchard to pick up the offensive slack.

Bouchard has been finding the score sheet with regularity and I’ll be banking on the Edmonton defenseman to lead the charge again tonight in my Oilers vs. Blues predictions and NHL picks for Wednesday, April 9.

Oilers vs Blues prediction

My Oilers pick: Evan Bouchard Over 0.5 points (-145 at BET99)

My Oilers analysis
The Edmonton Oilers have played eight games since March 22 – Connor McDavid has missed all eight contests while Leon Draisaitl has suited up just three times over that span before leaving last Thursday’s game early and heading back to the IR.

Since that date, Evan Bouchard has racked up a team-leading nine points. In fact, the defenseman’s hot streak goes back to the start of last month. Since March 1, Bouchard has tallied 18 points in 18 games, tied with Draisaitl for the team lead and the third-most among all blueliners in the NHL.

Bouchard started March on a seven-game point streak and has since found the score sheet in 14 of his last 18 outings.

The Oilers face a formidable foe tonight in the St. Louis Blues, who just had their 12-game win streak snapped on Monday. Since their winning streak began on March 15, the Blues have allowed a stingy 1.92 gapg. However, St. Louis has loosened up of late, allowing four goals in two of its last three contests.

Oilers vs Blues same-game parlay (SGP)

Evan Bouchard Over 0.5 points

Oilers Under 3.5 goals

Blues moneyline

Outside of Bouchard, the Oilers have definitely struggled to produce a ton of offense without the services of their top two scorers, recording Under 3.5 goals in seven straight games.

Things will only get more difficult tonight against the Blues, who have held the opposition to Under 3.5 in 11 of their last 13 outings. Jordan Binnington will likely get the call in net for St. Louis and has posted a strong .931 SV% and 1.84 GAA in seven starts since March 15.

St. Louis has won 12 of its last 13 games while going 9-1 in its last 10 vs. Western Conference opponents. Edmonton has lost two straight with three wins over its last seven contests.
