Best NHL Player Prop Bets Today, April 14: Skating With Sharks

The William Eklund-Alexander Wennberg-Tyler Toffoli line led the team in ice time on Sunday and can likely be counted on for similar numbers tonight. As a result, it's one of our favorite stack plays on Monday, April 14.

It’s the final week of the NHL regular season and the waters are getting murky with teams load managing and a lot of the playoff spots already locked. I hate the current playoff format. It needs to be changed as the hockey this week is going to resemble the NBA.

These are my three favorite NHL player props for Monday, April 14.

Best NHL player prop bets for April 14

Ivan Demidov Over 1.5 SOG + Canadiens moneyline(+112 at DraftKings)

Tonight, the Bell Centre will be insane for the debut of high-end prospect Ivan Demidov. The 19-year-old former KHL forward will start on a line with Alex Newhook and Joel Armia, which means he will be creating the offense and doing the shooting at 5-on-5.

He will also be the key piece of the Montreal Canadiens' second power-play unit, where he will get a lot of touches. He will have offensive opportunities tonight in a bouncing barn vs. one of the worst teams in hockey, the Chicago Blackhawks.

Montreal needs one more point to secure a playoff spot, and this might be the biggest regular-season game in Montreal in a generation. I want a piece of the rookie and the Habs tonight, and this is a good route to get plus-money odds.

Filip Forsberg + Ryan O’Reilly + Luke Evangelista Over 0.5 points each (+425 at bet365)

Only Filip Forsberg and Ryan O’Reilly correlate at 5-on-5 and PP1, but Luke Evangelista is a great add tonight at home vs. the Utah Hockey Club

The biggest thing here is that the visitors will not be playing Karel Vejmelka in net, halting his 23-game streak that started back on February 23. This is how bad Utah's situation has been between the pipes, as no goalie ever plays that much hockey, and bettors will have a chance to see what Utah was hiding.

Rookie goalie Matt Villalta will make his season debut after posting a 3.01 GAA and a .906 save percentage in the AHL. The Nashville Predators offense has a great matchup and has put up 14 goals over the three games since the return of Jonathan Marchessault. This top line will get a lot of opportunities tonight, and the Predators have scored four goals in each of their two matchups vs. Utah this season.

Tyler Toffoli + William Eklund + Alex Wennberg Over 0.5 points (+425 at bet365)

This is a PP1 correlated second line playing the Vancouver Canucks, who will be happy to have their season wrap up. It’s the last game of a four-game road trip and the third in four nights, but the San Jose Sharks are playing for nothing, and this line got a team-high 13:07 yesterday at 5-on-5.

It’s a big price for PP1 and line 1, and the Sharks are playing some loose, high-scoring hockey. The offense might not be scoring three goals a night, but San Jose just needs a couple of goals for this to hit with the opportunity and ice time these three are getting.

There are some easy stacks in Vancouver but the prices aren’t where I want them to be as Pius Suter and Connor Garland are just +145.
