Artemi Panarin Over 0.5 goals scored (+125 at FanDuel)
The San Jose Sharks host the New York Rangers in the late window of Saturday’s NHL slate. Goaltender Alexandar Georgiev is slated to start for San Jose, and he projects as a strong fade candidate.
Through 43 appearances this season, Georgiev is 15-23-1 with a .876 save percentage and a 3.26 goals-against average. That brings us to New York’s Artemi Panarin, who has been on fire.
Panarin has scored in eight of his past 13 games and leads the Rangers with 31 goals. This success is likely to continue against San Jose, a team he has scored 10 goals against in the past 12 meetings.
Chris Kreider Over 0.5 goals scored (+230 at FanDuel)
I also want to back Panarin’s teammate, Chris Kreider, to find the back of the net in this matchup. My thinking here is simple: we are guaranteed a profit if either Panarin or Kreider scores, and if both score, all the better.
Panarin and Kreider skate together on the first power-play unit, which should see plenty of opportunities. San Jose ranks 20th in penalty minutes per game. Not only do the Sharks take frequent penalties, but they also struggle to kill them, ranking 27th in penalty kill percentage.
That’s good news for Panarin and Kreider, who lead the team in power-play goals. At least one of them has scored in eight of New York’s past 13 games, with both scoring in two of those outings.
Dylan Larkin Over 0.5 goals scored (+155 at FanDuel)
Staying with the special teams angle, we are fading the Boston Bruins as they visit the Detroit Red Wings. Entering this matchup, Boston ranks 31st in penalty minutes taken per game and 21st in penalty kill percentage.
That sets up well for Dylan Larkin, who leads the Red Wings in power-play goals. His success is likely to continue against the Bruins, a team he has scored four goals against in the past 10 meetings.
Goaltender Jeremy Swayman is projected to start for Boston. He has struggled recently, posting an .892 save percentage through 51 starts while dealing with defensive lapses in front of him.
