Rangers vs Bruins Picks and Predictions: Bruins' Offensive Struggles Continue

Boston's offense has been struggling mightily, so it's probably a bad time for it to be facing the best goalie in the NHL this season. Find out why Shesterkin will shut the door and provide some great value for NY backers with our Rangers vs. Bruins picks.

The Boston Bruins offense continues to struggle while the New York Rangers are looking to extend their win streak to five games.

The Bruins were shut out in their previous game against the Penguins and they haven’t scored more than two goals in regulation in their last seven contests.

The New York Rangers had an excellent performance against the Islanders and they are hoping to gain sole possession of first place in the Metropolitan division.

Rangers vs Bruins picks and predictions

Our side and total predictions are based upon our analysis of the line and total in this game. Our best bet is our favorite pick across all markets.

Moneyline analysis

The Rangers are heating up right now as they are competing for first place in the Metropolitan division, currently tied with the Carolina Hurricanes at 108 points.

The Boston Bruins are arguably in their biggest rough patch of the season, and to make matters worse they have lost both games against the Rangers this year. The B’s offense is non-existent right now, as they’ve only scored a total of 11 goals in their last six games and haven’t scored a power-play goal in their last nine.

The Rangers have been so good defensively in their last four games, so Boston’s offensive struggles will most likely continue in this matchup, especially if Igor Shesterkin is getting the start, considering both his last two outings have been shutouts

I think there is incredible value on the Rangers, who are on fire going against an unconfident Bruins team.

Prediction: Rangers ML (+110 at BetMGM)

Over/Under analysis

Igor Shesterkin is once again looking superhuman, going 4-0-1 in his last five starts, including back-to-back shutouts and a 0.8 GAA along with a .969 save percentage. Shesterkin also got the night off on Thursday against the Islanders so he will be very well rested for this matchup.

Jeremy Swayman has taken on the workload for Boston due to Linus Ullmark’s injury, but there is a chance that Ullmark makes his return. If not, Swayman is still a very good option in goal for the B’s — he’s playing well he just needs some help from the forwards.

Both teams have been excellent in their own ends this season. The Rangers are the second-best defensive team in the league right now, only allowing 2.45 goals against per game, and the Bruins are right there with them, giving up 2.69 per game.

The Rangers have found their scoring ability as of late, tallying a total of 17 goals in their last four games, while the Bruins have only been able to find the back of the net seven times in their last four.

I trust Igor Shesterkin to shut down the B’s and Swayman should have a strong bounce-back game after giving up three goals against the Penguins. I think this game will stay Under.

Prediction: Under 5.5 (-110 at BetMGM)

Best bet

I am very surprised that the Rangers are the underdogs in this contest, considering the fact that they have won both previous meetings this season against the B’s and they are way ahead of them in the standings.

The Rangers have the advantage in goal, offensively, especially the power-play since they rank third in that category and the B’s are 16th.

This game matters for both teams, but this will be the first taste of what is to be expected for the Rangers with the playoffs around the corner, and they have gained so much momentum.

Right now, the Bruins offense cannot be trusted, especially against the leading candidate for the Vezina trophy in Igor Shesterkin. I love the value on the Rangers in this game and I think they will get the win.

Pick: Rangers ML (+110 at BetMGM)
