Connor McDavid has been a beast in these playoffs. He’s now up to 28 points, and the superstar has had no shortage of opportunities on goal. He’s averaging 3.7 shots on target across 17 postseason contests, and the three-time Hart Trophy winner did his part in Game 1 on Wednesday.
McDavid compiled four shots on net, and he’s now cashed the Over in SOG in three of his last six games, finishing with three shots on goal in two of those games as well. It’s a rather high total, and I wasn’t loving it in the series opener, but McDavid proved me wrong, and he also thrives at home.
Throughout the playoffs, he’s consistently made things happen offensively, and I’m expecting nothing less tonight. McDavid will generate more chances as the Edmonton Oilers seek to win another at Rogers Place against the Cats.

While McDavid didn’t score a ton of goals this season or in the playoffs up to this point, he’s still leading Edmonton in points. That’s because he is a tremendous playmaker, with 22 of his points coming via the assist.
He’s compiled at least one helper in five of the last six games, finishing Game 1 with two assists. McDavid set up Leon Draisaitl for the game-winner. He also had 74 helpers in the regular season. It’s rare for McDavid not to grab an assist, especially in these playoffs. He’ll keep it rolling in Game 2.
Although the Florida Panthers did blow a 3-1 lead in Game 1, Sam Bennett was brilliant. The Canadian led the way with a pair of goals and he is first on Florida in the playoffs in goals (12) and points (18). When it comes to SOG, he’s averaging 3.1 per contest in the postseason.
Bennett had five shots on target in the Stanley Cup Finals opener and he’s hit the Over in SOG in three of his last four appearances. Bennett is playing with a whole lot of confidence and after lighting up Stuart Skinner, he’ll be getting his fair share of pucks on net again.
