2024 Olympic women's basketball favorites

USA (-1,400)

When the United States announced its roster for the 2024 Olympic games, the main talking point was not who made the team, but instead who was left off it.

For those living under a rock, we are talking about Caitlin Clark's omission from the team, despite her being thrust into the WNBA as the face of the league. While I could see both sides of the argument on whether Clark should have been involved, there's no debate on how good this team is.

This team is littered with WNBA All-Stars and has a good mix of young and old to keep things balanced:

There's a reason why the U.S. are massive favorites to win their eighth straight Gold Medal in Paris, France.

China (+2,000)

While China's Olympic basketball roster doesn't exactly contain household names, this is still a team that people need to take seriously.

This is a group led by Meng Li, who plies her trade in the WNBA for the Washington Mystics. While she's not exactly having a stellar year for Washington, she will be the focal point on offense for her home country.

The rest of the roster is as follows:

France (+2,500)

If you're looking for a sleeper team to possibly shock the world and take home the gold, France would be the team I am looking at.

This is a country that finished third at the last Olympic Games in Tokyo and has what should be a relatively favorable group stage draw, facing Australia, Canada, and Nigeria."

Understanding basketball odds

Sportsbooks will post a wider variety of Olympics markets closer to the tournament, which are constantly adjusted as teams win and lose games — and if injuries arise.

Basketball futures odds will usually look like this:

  • Canada +3,500

This means that on a $100 bet, you'll stand to win $3,500 if Canada wins the gold medal. If there is a particularly dominant nation, you might see that a team has a minus sign (-) ahead of its odds.

  • USA -1,400

This means that if you bet on the USA, you would have need to bet $1,400 to profit $100 if the Americans win the championship.

Above we have posted the American odds for Olympic basketball. However, these are easy to convert to decimal odds or fractional odds with our odds converter tool.
