Copa America Predictions: Expect a Highly Competitive Group Stage

While the traditional way of betting on soccer is via the moneyline or total, betting on group winners is a good way to ensure you get plenty of bang for your buck. I break down all four groups and show you where the value is.

We are less than one month away from the 2024 Copa America tournament and Copa America predictions are starting to heat up.

Join me as I comb through the Copa America odds and break down the groups before predicting an outright winner and a Golden Boot candidate.

Copa America group odds

Group A odds

Team Betano
Argentina -312
Chile +440
Peru +1,000
Canada +1,400

There is no denying the fact that Argentina is a cut above the rest of their Group A foes, and the odds rightfully represent that.

Led by Lionel Messi, Argentina will do enough offensively while dictating possession and limiting chances from lesser clubs like Peru and Canada.

There's only one way this group will go, and that's Argentina topping it.

Best bet: Argentina to win Group A (-312 at Betano)

Group B odds

Team Betano
Mexico +122
Ecuador +150
Venezuela +490
Jamaica +1,2000

One look at the betting odds for this group and you'll know why Group B is considered the Group of Death.

Mexico, Ecuador, and Venezuela all have the ability to win this group and it wouldn't shock me to see Jamaica sneak in second and qualify for the knockout stage.

Mexico has alternated wins and losses over their last five fixtures (four competitive) and looks a bit discombobulated at the moment.

Ecuador boasts some young, exciting talent, and can really shut the door defensively. Venezuela is a tough out, with just three friendly losses over their last 16 matches in all competitions.

If we're picking a winner, I'll side with Ecuador as they boast a roster I view as the most talented in the group.

Best bet: Ecuador to win Group B (+150 at Betano)

Group C odds

Team Betano
Uruguay -133
USA +120
Panama +2,000
Bolivia +3,600

You don't have to look too far down the Outright market to find Urguay as they are currently the third betting choice behind Argentina and Brazil. Given their infusion of youth and experience, Uruguay is one of the most well-rounded teams in the tournament and they are rightfully favored to win Group C.

The United States, despite hosting the tournament will be hard-pressed to elevate their game to match their South American foes. They will be the second-best team in the group and should have no issues qualifying over Bolivia and Panama, but they will not win the group.

Best bet: Uruguay to win Group C (-133 at Betano)

Group D odds

Team Betano
Brazil -333
Colombia +310
Paraguay +1,500
Costa Rice +3,900

Odds as of 6-4

If we judge this group off pedigree and name recognition alone, Brazil would be the runaway winner of Group D. And while that still may happen, it's hard to overlook their current form and injury issues to their main man, Neymar.

Brazil is mired in a four-game competitive fixture winless run which saw them lose to Argentina, Uruguay, and fellow Group D members Colombia. A friendly win vs. England and a draw vs. Spain did little to squash the tension and the upcoming friendlies against Mexico and the USA will serve as a pre-tournament warm-up.

If we are looking to back a team in form, Colombia is your team. They've not lost a match in all competitions since 2022 — a span of 21 games. They can score goals and they can clamp down defensively with four clean sheets across their last six 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

It's hard to bet against Brazil, but there is value in Colombia.

Best bet: Colombia to win Group D (+275 at Betano)

Copa America prediction

While it may seem dull, and lame, and make for a potentially boring tournament, Argentina enter this year's Copa America in fine form.

They sit atop the CONMEBOL standings for the 2026 World Cup and have conceded just twice in six games.

With Lionel Messi set to turn 37 at the onset of the tournament, you'd be foolish to count him out.

He's the straw that stirs the drink and with a plethora of high-quality players around him and a stout defensive line, Argentina should face very little resistance until the semifinals, if not Finals.

As for Brazil — their main rival — the loss of Neymar will be too much to overcome and we've seen a dip in their form leading up to this tournament with just one win (a friendly) over their last six fixtures in all competitions.

Give me Messi. Give me Argentina.

Best bet: Argentina to win (+175 at Betano)
