Newcastle didn’t picture their season unfolding like this but the FA Cup now represents a last chance of silverware — and the road to Wembley continues on Saturday with an all-Premier League clash against Fulham.

The Magpies are coming off a two-week break and a much-needed breather to digest the gut-wrenching 3-2 loss to Manchester City last time out. That setback made it just one win in their past six contests, with that sole victory coming against local rivals Sunderland in the last round.

Fulham have been a good cup team this year and pushed Liverpool to the limit in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semifinal on Wednesday. But Marco Silva’s men are on a rough stretch of their own, with only one win in their last nine games against top-flight opponents.

Read on for our free Fulham vs Newcastle picks and predictions ahead of this January 27 showdown.

Fulham vs Newcastle picks and predictions

There’s urgency in the air for Newcastle with reality setting in: their season hinges on the FA Cup. The Champions League adventure has come and gone, they’re 14 points outside the Top 4 in the Premier League and the pressure is mounting.

But the Magpies could flip the script with a cup run, and I’m backing the visitors to come in fresh, focused, and ready to hit back. You can find plus-money odds for the Newcastle moneyline, and this is still a very good team with creative sparks in midfield and a pacy front three.

It also helps that Newcastle have bossed the past few meetings with Fulham, winning the last four matchups, including a 3-0 victory in December after a first-half red card for Raul Jimenez. The Magpies also bagged a 4-1 win at Craven Cottage last season, with Miguel Almiron scoring twice.

Fulham have been tough to break down in their four January fixtures so far, but Newcastle will pose problems on the counter-attack. There’s a fatigue factor too for the hosts after fielding their strongest team in midweek, and that might mean a weaker lineup if Silva chooses to rotate his squad.

Though the Magpies’ road form hasn’t filled me with confidence in recent months, this is a great spot for them as they try to keep their trophy chase alive.

Fulham vs Newcastle same-game parlay

Newcastle moneyline

Both teams to score — Yes

Miguel Almiron Over 0.5 shots on target

While I’m picking Newcastle to progress to the next round on Saturday, the visitors have shown enough defensive frailty to make me question their ability to keep a clean sheet at Craven Cottage. Fulham aren’t exactly in free-scoring form, but they’ve found the net in four of their last five outings. The BTTS – Yes prop looks like good value here.

With question marks over the hosts’ starting line-up after a grueling effort in midweek, I’m sticking with Newcastle for a tasty player prop to add to my SGP. Almiron has history against Fulham and I like his chances of finishing with at least one shot on target. After a lengthy break, he’s poised to rediscover his December form, where he had a shot on target in four straight games.

Fulham vs Newcastle side and Over/Under analysis

Though Newcastle are favorites, the sportsbooks aren’t writing Fulham off, with plus-money odds for all three outcomes. But I’ve planted my flag with the visitors and I expect their talent edge to win out, even though they’ve largely underperformed since early December.

My optimism largely stems from the Magpies’ attacking threats. Alexander Isak should lead the line on Saturday, with Almiron and Anthony Gordon capable of exploiting one-on-one situations out wide against the Fulham full-backs. Despite the loss, there were also positives to take from going toe-to-toe with City two weeks ago.

Fulham will be no pushovers, but I see Newcastle arriving in London with real desperation as their season teeters on the brink. The hosts will surely be content with a tight, cagey contest. In contrast, Newcastle have trended towards end-to-end thrillers. Six of the visitors’ past seven games have featured three or more goals — with five or more goals in three of those clashes.

I see both teams getting on the scoresheet this weekend, and the Over on 2.5 goals is also worth a look.
