Both Leicester City and Manchester City go into this weekend outside of the top six, although that surely won’t be for long. Man City have looked electric at times and Leicester City look like they’ve picked up where they left off last season.

Leicester City vs Manchester City predictions
Side pick
Man City started the season losing 1-0 to Tottenham in a shock defeat. Normally that would get people talking but we’re so used to the quality of Pep Guardiola’s team that we knew they wouldn’t be down for too long. They weren’t and went on to win the next two games against Norwich and Arsenal, 5-0.
Leicester have six points, having narrowly beaten Norwich and Wolves but they did lose, and lose heavily, to West Ham 4-1. Leicester City fans will be pointing toward their 1-0 Community Shield victory over Man City in early August, in the soccer season’s annual curtain-raiser.
Leicester looked like they had the measure of Man City that day but Brendan Rodgers generally hasn’t had success against City, with Leicester only winning two of the last six meetings between the teams.
There are question marks over Man City in the long run, like whether they can win the Premier League or Champions League without a proper number nine. But in the short term, they’re still playing at a great level with a false nine.
Ultimately, the quality of this Manchester City team is too much for Leicester, who need to worry about stagnating this season. Jack Grealish’s addition to Man City’s attacking front three is scary and a threesome of Grealish, alongside his England teammate Raheem Sterling and Ferran Torres, is a terrifying one. With their mix of speed and guile, they’ll cause fullbacks Timothy Castagne and Luke Thomas problems.
Leicester are still being led by the great Jamie Vardy and he’ll be important as they try to attack on the counter but City’s defenders are quick and Ruben Dias’ positioning should help to mitigate the 34-year-old Vardy.
PICK: Man City (-175)
Anytime goalscorer pick
That impressive Man City attacking trident is where we’ll be getting an anytime goalscorer from this game and it’s the Spaniard Torres who we’re backing at +130.
Torres only scored nine goals in 97 games at Valencia but he's managed 15 in 40 contests since his move to Man City. That’s a huge improvement and you can see already that his game has taken on another dimension and he’s become a key piece in Man City’s attack. He leads City’s scoring with two goals and although we’re still early, it’s notable that he’s taking on the team’s goalscoring burden, especially since they failed to sign Harry Kane.
Guardiola’s coaching has really helped develop his game and I really feel like we’re on the verge of seeing Torres establish himself as one of the world’s best players. Alongside his two goals for Man City this season, he’s also scored two goals for Spain during the international break, burying against Georgia and Kosovo.
Torres moves about the pitch but spends a lot of time and is at his best when he finds the channels between the rightbacks and central defenders. The young Luke Thomas will be starting on the right side of the Foxes defense, which won’t be able to keep up with Torres. Leicester’s Caglar Soyuncu has looked out of sorts since a poor Euro 2020 tournament and with an aging Jonny Evans as his center-back partner, it should give Torres ample opportunity to score.
Odds of +130 aren’t huge but I imagine that we’ll see the odds of Torres to score anytime continue to shorten throughout the season if he continues this incredible progression.
PICK: Ferran Torres to score (+130)
