There's no better team at scoring first-half goals than Liverpool so Sam Farley believes they'll come out firing early and take a lead into halftime.

Liverpool and Newcastle face each other in Premier League action this Wednesday from Anfield. Liverpool are getting closer to winning the title but a game against Newcastle does pose a threat.

Despite Newcastle’s form our Liverpool vs Newcastle predictions have Liverpool continue their trend of starting games fast and taking a lead into the halftime interval.

Read on for my Premier League picks for Wednesday, February 26 with kickoff at 3:15 p.m. ET on USA Network.

Premier League predictions for Liverpool vs Newcastle

My best bet:
Liverpool to be winning at halftime (-105 at TonyBet)

My analysis
Anfield hosts a clash between Liverpool and Newcastle on Wednesday, with both teams coming into this one following statement wins on Sunday. Newcastle survived a late rally from Nottingham Forest to take the win and continue the form that has seen them rise up the table over the past few months. Meanwhile, Liverpool beat Man City to all but secure the Premier League title.

Liverpool have the Premier League’s second-best defense behind Arsenal and they have an attack that can terrorize any team. Mohamed Salah continued his incredible form in that game over Man City and scored yet again, for his eighth successive game. You're very tough to defeat when you have attacking players in such devastating form, as well as depth in those positions, in addition to a strong backline.

One key aspect of Liverpool’s performances this season is how quickly they’ve started games. They don’t sit back early, they go out and attack and assert their authority over the opposition. We saw that again on Sunday with Salah scoring in the 14th minute and Dominik Szoboszlai adding a second in the 37th minute.

No team has more first-half goals than Liverpool, who have scored 30 times in 27 games. Meanwhile, they also have the second-best defensive record in that time, giving up 12 goals, so less than 0.5 goals per first half. That defensive record is even better at home and Liverpool have allowed just three first-half goals at Anfield all season and they’ve only been losing at the interval twice.

Meanwhile, Newcastle haven’t been great in their first halves on the road, they’ve been winning at halftime in just four of 13 away trips so far and while they’ve scored 12, they’ve given up 13 goals. To put it into perspective only three teams have given up more first-half goals away from home than Newcastle, and those teams, Wolves, Southampton, and Leicester City are deep in a relegation battle.

Across Liverpool’s past six Premier League games they’ve scored 10 goals and have been winning four times at the interval. With the Premier League title closing in on them, combined with Newcastle’s poor defensive record on the road, we’re set to see Liverpool, start quickly again on Wednesday and take a lead into the halftime team talk.

Liverpool vs Newcastle same-game parlay (SGP)

Liverpool to be winning at halftime

Liverpool moneyline

Mo Salah anytime goal

In addition to our best bet we’re going to back Liverpool to maintain their lead and finish the game at winners, taking home the three points. It’s no surprise given that they’re top of the table but no team has won more games than Liverpool who have won 19 of 27 so far. They’ve won five of the past six against Newcastle and their home record is also impressive, dropping points in just three home games this season, while Newcastle have won fewer than half of their 13 road trips this season.

The final leg of our Same-Game Parlay is for the ‘Egyptian King’ Mohamed Salah to score. Salah is having an all-time great season and has to be the favorite for next year’s Ballon d’Or. He’s scored 25 in 27 Premier League games, as well as setting up a further 16 goals. He’s also scored another five for Liverpool this season in other competitions. What’s even more impressive is that he’s scored in each of his past eight games, banging in nine goals, as well as setting up another four. He’s the most in-form player on the planet and has to be backed to score.
