With their injury woes easing, Manchester City have a chance to wrestle back control of the EPL odds to win the league title, and that starts with a matchup against a faltering Newcastle team on Saturday.

Despite Erling Haaland’s foot injury, City have won five in a row, including their Club World Cup success last month. They thumped Huddersfield 5-0 in the FA Cup last time out, and they’re favorites to take all three points at St. James’ Park.

Newcastle got a much-needed cup victory last weekend against local rivals Sunderland, but the pressure is still on Eddie Howe, with the Magpies well adrift of the Top 4 and coming off a disastrous December.

Read on for our free Newcastle vs. Manchester City betting picks and predictions ahead of this January 13 showdown.

Newcastle vs Man City best odds

EPL predictions for Newcastle vs Man City

With neither Liverpool nor Arsenal able to cash in while Man City were in Saudi Arabia, Pep Guardiola’s men are well placed in the league table with a game in hand and a chance to send a message to their title rivals.

I expect the champions to grab that chance and take care of business here. Their disappointing stretch in early December is starting to feel like a distant memory and the fresh challenge at the Club World Cup may have come at the perfect time for City.

There’s more good news for the visitors, with Kevin De Bruyne available after a hamstring injury to add his spark to an attack spearheaded by Phil Foden, Julian Alvarez, and Bernardo Silva.

Haaland remains out, but City have shown they can grind their way to results without their No.9, and I see them stifling a Newcastle team who’ve been short of their best this season.

The champs have picked up 19 points from their 10 road contests this year, and they’re clearly the form team in this matchup.

I’m juicing up the odds by focusing on the total, too. The hosts’ last three contests have all served up three or more goals while the visitors have scored 17 goals in their past five outings, so I’m pairing the City moneyline with the Over 2.5 goals prop.

My best bet: Man City moneyline and Over 2.5 goals (+114 at TonyBet)

Newcastle vs Man City same-game parlay

Manchester City moneyline and Over 2.5 goals

Julian Alvarez anytime goal

Phil Foden Over 0.5 shots on target

City have found ways to manage with Haaland sidelined, and Alvarez has been a big part of the solution as the focal point in attack. The Argentine is on a hot streak, scoring four times in his last three games, and I see him getting on the scoresheet again on Saturday.

Newcastle have been leaky defensively over the past month, and the visitors have the wizardry on the flanks to create chances for Alvarez, who’s also been taking penalties with Haaland out.

I’m backing Foden to be a goal threat for the visitors here too. He scored twice in the 5-0 victory over Huddersfield and is making his case to be a regular for Gareth Southgate at Euro 2024 this summer.

Foden has had at least one shot on target in each of his last five games, and I’m picking him to extend that streak on Saturday.

Newcastle vs Man City side and Over/Under analysis

Although Newcastle have won eight of their 10 home games in the league this season, City enter as favorites with the sportsbooks, and I’ve already laid out the case for the visitors to walk away with the three points.

Of course, the Magpies won’t roll over. They’ve already beaten PSG, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea at home this season, and they toppled City 1-0 here in the Carabao Cup back in September.

But the recent formbook tells a different story. The Magpies have lost five of their last league games and, though their bigger struggles have come on the road, they also lost 3-1 to Nottingham Forest at St. James’ Park last month.

With De Bruyne back pulling the strings in midfield — though perhaps off the bench on Saturday — City are poised to continue their free-scoring form. The visitors have scored two or more goals in each of their last eight games.

They’ve also looked stronger defensively, with four clean sheets in their past five outings, but I see scoring chances at both ends this weekend.

Alexander Isak has scored in Newcastle’s last three games, and the direct style of Anthony Gordon and Miguel Almiron out wide will test the City back-line. That makes the Over 3.5 goals worth a look in what should be an entertaining battle.
