West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui needs to make his team deliver fast in order to avoid the sack, but there aren't many glimpses of hope for their away day in Newcastle.
Newcastle sit ninth in the Premier League standings and are chasing a return to European football next season. If they want their attempt to be taken seriously, they can't let opportunities pass them.
I believe Newcastle will keep the points at St. James' Park, and I'll tell you why in my Newcastle vs. West Ham predictions and free betting picks for Monday, November 25.
EPL predictions for Newcastle vs West Ham
My best bet:
Newcastle to win (-197 at TonyBet)
My analysis
West Ham are 14th in the Premier League table, with 12 points from 11 games, just four points clear of the relegation zone. When Lopetegui was appointed in the summer, the club's ambitions were totally different. Even though the Spaniard hasn't had the time required to implement his style, West Ham's hierarchy have made it clear to him that the team must return to winning if he wants to buy time.
Since the beginning of September, WHU have won just two Premier League games, 4-1 vs. newly-promoted Ipswich and 2-1 over a lackluster Man United version which cost Dutch manager Erik Ten Hag his job. Apart from these triumphs, the East Londoners lost three Premier League encounters and drew two, while also being thrown out of the League Cup following a 5-1 defeat to Liverpool.
It wasn't the only severe score line for the Hammers; West Ham were beaten 3-0 by Forest, 4-1 by Tottenham, and 3-0 by Chelsea since September 1.
On the other hand, Newcastle's form has improved massively since a narrow 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge vs. Chelsea on October 27. Convincing wins at home vs. the same opponent in the League Cup (2-0) then Arsenal (1-0) followed.
In the last match before the international break, Newcastle beat high-flying Nottingham Forest 3-1 at their own ground, so failing vs. West Ham would be regarded as a massive setback.
Newcastle have hit the net at least twice in eight of their last 10 games vs. West Ham in all competitions and are undefeated in 10 of their last 11 games vs. West Ham. I can't see the visitors heading back to London with points, so I'll stick to the moneyline favoring Newcastle at a satisfying -197 via TonyBet.
Newcastle vs West Ham same-game parlay (SGP)
Bruno Guimaraes has started in all 11 Newcastle games this season. He's a key player to Eddie Howe's system, dictating things around midfield.
Guimaraes contributed with one assist so far this season and is yet to score a goal. His goal contributions are mediocre to say the least, considering last season he netted seven times and assisted 10 goals (eight in the Premier League, one in the FA Cup and one in the Champions League). The class is there, so Bruno can always be of massive importance for Newcastle's attacking game.
Anthony Gordon, another one of Howe's danger-men, looks well positioned to trouble West Ham on Monday evening. He's on seven shots on goal since the beginning of the season, so we'll hope for another one so could add to a nice +737 return for our parlay.
