Tottenham vs Man United Predictions, Picks & Odds for Sunday’s Premier League Match

With a hobbled Manchester United side meeting up against Tottenham, it sets the stage for the Spurs to get out of a scoring funk and the ability to put pressure on a very vulnerable opposing defense.

Two struggling Big Six clubs meet in a key Premier League match on Sunday when Tottenham Hotspur plays host to a hobbled Manchester United.

Both Ange Postecoglou and Ruben Amorim find themselves searching for answers, and both clubs will be desperate for points as they’re closer to the relegation battle than they are the Top 4.

I explain why the home side should find goals in my Tottenham vs. Manchester United picks and predictions for Sunday, February 16.

Premier League predictions for Tottenham vs Man United

My best bet:
Tottenham team total Over 1.5 (-121 at TonyBet)

My analysis
Tottenham have been in a bit of a scoring funk over the past 10 days. After being trounced 4-0 at Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi final, they visited Aston Villa last weekend and were eliminated from the FA Cup via a 2-1 defeat. Their only goal in that span was a stoppage time consolation marker scored by new loanee Mathys Tel.

But after seven of their last nine matches being away on the road, Tottenham returns home where they’ve already played Manchester United once this season. That match saw Spurs take a 4-3 victory, knocking the Red Devils from the Carabao Cup as they scored three goals inside the opening hour.

In fact, Tottenham already has two wins over Manchester United this season, with Spurs taking a 3-0 victory in September at Old Trafford. Spurs needed less than three minutes to find an opener, and they racked up an xG of 4.59 while dominating proceedings.

Now Tottenham looks to get back on track, with multiple key players likely returning from injury. While they may not start, the likes of James Maddison, Destiny Udogie, Brennan Johnson, and Guglielmo Vicario should all be available for selection.

In addition, Tel should get the start up top with both Dominic Solanke and Richarlison sidelined. Tel is not only dangerous with the ball at his feet, he’s quite strong at winning aerial duels. With both Heung-Min Son and Dejan Kulusevski providing him service, they should be able to cause problems for a Manchester United back line that is struggling to defend set pieces and crosses.

On the flip side, Manchester United may need to fire some members of the training staff. News broke on Saturday morning that winger Amad Diallo may miss the remainder of the campaign with an ankle ligament injury. In addition, three midfielders suffered injuries in training this week, with Kobbie Mainoo set to miss multiple weeks while Toby Collyer and Manuel Ugarte are doubtful for Sunday.

That means Amorim is likely going to have to start a duo of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro in the middle of his 3-4-2-1 setup, or partner Casemiro with Bruno Fernandes. Whatever the selection, Tottenham are going to have the pace to punish them and put waves of pressure on a vulnerable Man United defense.

Given Tottenham’s pace on the break and the frailty of a struggling Manchester United side lacking confidence, I’m going to back Spurs to score two or more goals against the Red Devils for the sixth straight meeting in all competitions. I would bet this up to -130, so I’d play it quickly before the markets react to the injury news.

Heung-Min Son Star Player Props

While he’s missed two of the last three meetings with Manchester United, Son scored in their last matchup and has goals in two of his last three outings against the Red Devils. That goal came via a stunning Olympico goal, with his two actual shots from open play both failing to reach the target.

Son is priced at +143 to score, which I’m staying away from. He’s gone five matches without a goal, and has just three in his last 10 outings. However, I see value in a price of +359 to assist.

That’s because he’s taking corner kicks against a Manchester United side that has conceded more goals from set pieces than any other club in the Premier League. And with the lineup conundrum facing the Red Devils, I expect they’ll be forced to sit back a bit more and concede possession, which should lead to an elevated number of corner opportunities for Tottenham.

For those looking to bet on shots, you’ll need at least three shots to hit at -139 odds, with four shots priced at +190. And to avoid heavy juice, two of those efforts need to reach the target, which you can get at +154.

I’ll be staying far away from his shot props. Per 90 minutes in the Premier League, Son is averaging 2.38 shots and just 1.25 shots on target, but his last four league starts have seen him attempt just seven shots with four reaching goal. He’s also had multiple shots on target in just two of his last 10 starts.

Tottenham vs Man United opening odds

  • Moneyline: Tottenham +140 | Man United +195
  • Draw: +275
  • Over/Under: Over 2.5 (-193) | Under 2.5 (+165)

Tottenham vs Man United side and Over/Under analysis

  • Tottenham are slightly favored on the 3-way money line at +142, with Manchester United getting +185 odds to win. The draw is priced at +280.
  • The last home win in the Premier League for Spurs came back in early November, a run of seven straight. Manchester United have gone 3W-1D-0L in their last four in all competitions away from home. That said, Man United’s midfield injuries mean Spurs have value here.
  • The total of 2.5 sees the Over priced at -200 with the Under paying at +170. Over 3.5 gets you +119, while the Under sits at -141.
  • There have been 3+ goals in three of the last four meetings between these sides. However, only two of Tottenham’s last seven Premier League matches have reached four goals.
