My analysis
This Saturday’s exciting slate of Premier League games is headlined by West Ham vs Man City, a match that features two of the most interesting attacks in the Premier League so far this season.
City have left off where they did last season, topping the Premier League already, one of four teams who have won both of their opening games, however, they have a +5 goal difference thanks to last weekend’s heavy victory over new boys Ipswich. Meanwhile, West Ham are on three points, with a win and a loss to their name. They beat Crystal Palace last time out but suffered a late defeat to a good Aston Villa team in the opener. In truth, they’ve been the better team in three of the four halves they’ve played so far and will cause City some problems on Saturday.
West Ham have done some good transfer business this summer, at least on paper, and they’ve added a lot of interesting players to their attack. Niclas Fullkrug has come in from Dortmund following a good Euro 2024 for Germany as a super sub. Likewise, Crysencio Summerville adds real depth and extreme pace to an attack that was already very dynamic. They still have both Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen who were both exceptional last season and, for now at least, Lucas Paqueta behind them. That’s a lot of creativity and a lot of potential for goals. City did allow both Chelsea and Ipswich chances to score and despite conceding just one goal in two games, they do look open and West Ham should be able to score.
Sadly for Hammers fans, it’s unlikely to matter if they score because there’s a very good chance that City will outscore them. Sometimes previously it’s taken Guardiola’s team some time to get going but that hasn’t been the case this season and they already look frightening, which is worrying for the rest of the Premier League. New signing Savinho already looks like their next superstar with an assist to his name, Jeremy Doku has been dangerous and then there’s Kevin De Bruyne, who they missed at times last year. The Belgian has been exceptional through the opening two weeks and already has a goal and an assist to his name. There’s also the threat of Erling Haaland who has four goals already. With that amount of firepower in attack, plus quality on the bench, we should see City win this, even with West Ham likely to find the back of the net too.

The Norwegian has already scored four in City’s opening two games of the Premier League season and is in dangerous form. He’s scored 63 Premier League goals in his last two seasons and looks set for another high-scoring campaign.
The final leg of our Same-Game Parlay is for Mohammed Kudus to have two or more shots in the game. The West Ham player has been their best player through the first two games, using his skills to get into dangerous positions, he’s averaging two shots per game and we’ll back that trend to continue.
