Franmil Reyes hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the fourth inning as the Cleveland Indians rallied for a 7-3 victory over the visiting New York Yankees Sunday afternoon to salvage the finale of a four-game series.
Cleveland halted a four-game losing streak and capped a series that saw the team who scored first lose each game.
The Indians rallied from a 3-0 deficit by opening the fourth with four consecutive hits off Jameson Taillon (0-2).
After three straight singles, Reyes followed Eddie Rosario's RBI by lifting a 1-2 fastball into the right-field seats over Aaron Judge's leaping attempt at the warning track.
Reyes' fifth homer of the season highlighted a three-hit performance for the designated hitter. He singled and stole his first career base in the second and then hit his second career triple in the sixth before scoring on Jordan Luplow's double against Nick Nelson.
Jose Ramirez lifted a sacrifice fly in the fifth for Cleveland, which blew a pair of 3-0 leads in the opening two games and a 1-0 lead against Gerrit Cole on Saturday.
Austin Hedges added an RBI double in the sixth to cap the scoring.
New York was unable to get its season-high fourth straight win and complete its first four-game sweep in Cleveland since 1996. The Yankees held a 3-0 lead on back-to-back homers by Gio Urshela and Mike Ford in the fourth off Triston McKenzie.
McKenzie allowed three runs on four hits in four innings. He struck out five and tied a career high with four walks.
Four relievers followed McKenzie.
