Pinch hitter Will Smith belted a walk-off, three-run homer to lift the Los Angeles Dodgers to an 8-6 win against the visiting San Francisco Giants on Tuesday.
Tyler Rogers (1-1) was called on to close the ninth, but he walked the first two batters, Chris Taylor and Matt Beaty, on nine pitches before giving up a towering home run to Smith.
Taylor homered twice and doubled for Los Angeles. The Dodgers played without right fielder Mookie Betts (hip pointer), and they lost third baseman Justin Turner (knee contusion) and second baseman Max Muncy (shoulder contusion) during the game after they were hit by pitches.
Alex Dickerson, LaMonte Wade Jr., Thairo Estrada and Mike Yastrzemski homered for the Giants, who led 6-1 in the fifth inning.
The teams have split the first two games of a four-game series.
San Francisco starter Alex Wood allowed three runs and six hits in five-plus innings. He struck out seven, walked one and hit three batters.
Dodgers left-hander Darien Nunez made his first major league start and went two innings, giving up two runs, both on a second-inning homer by Dickerson.
Josiah Gray, the Dodgers' 2019 minor league pitcher of the year, made his major league debut in relief of Nunez. He surrendered three home runs in four innings. Gray allowed four runs on four hits, struck out seven and walked one on 77 pitches.
Jimmie Sherfy (2-0) pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the win.
Taylor hit a solo homer in the fifth that began Los Angeles' comeback from the five-run deficit. Austin Barnes added an RBI double in the sixth, and Taylor followed two outs later with a two-run blast to pull the Dodgers within 6-5.
Taylor led off the first inning with a double and came home on a one-out single by Muncy for a 1-0 lead.
Dickerson put the Giants on top 2-1 with his homer in the second.
Wade was the second batter to face Gray, and he homered to deep right in the third for a 3-1 lead.
Gray struck out the side in the fourth, and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts let him hit in the bottom half of the inning with runners on second and third and two outs. Gray struck out, then gave up two more homers in the fifth.
Estrada hit the first pitch of the inning over the fence in center, and Yastrzemski followed with a two-out, two-run blast to make it 6-1.
