Luis Guillorme's two-run single in the seventh inning sparked a three-run rally and helped the visiting New York Mets defeat the Atlanta Braves 8-5 in the second game of a doubleheader on Monday at SunTrust Park.
Atlanta won the first game 4-3 with a two-run, walk-off homer by pinch hitter Charlie Culberson in the ninth inning. The second game was delayed 2 hours, 57 minutes because of rain and did not start until 10:10 p.m. ET.
The nightcap result snapped New York's four-game losing streak and gave the Mets their second win against the Braves in eight meetings.
The Mets broke a 5-5 tie in the seventh against Atlanta reliever A.J. Minter (3-1). Guillorme, who went 2-for-5, singled to left to drive in Jay Bruce and Adrian Gonzalez. Amed Rosario followed with a run-scoring single, giving him his third RBI of the night.
The Mets produced 15 hits, with five players posting multi-hit games: Kevin Plawecki and Michael Conforto, who each had three hits, and Gonzalez, Rosario and Guillorme with two apiece.
The winning pitcher was Robert Gsellman (5-1), who allowed one run in his only inning. Jacob Rhame held the lead with a scoreless inning, and Jeurys Familia pitched the final two innings to earn his 14th save. It was the eighth save of at least 1 2/3 innings for Familia since 2014.
The Mets started left-hander P.J. Conlon, who worked two-plus innings and allowed four runs on eight hits, including a home run. They followed with Hansel Robles, who had been activated from the disabled list earlier in the day. Robles pitched three scoreless innings.
Atlanta starter Brandon McCarthy gave up five runs in 5 1/3 innings and left with the bases loaded.
The Braves had 13 hits, including Kurt Suzuki's seventh homer. The first five batters in the Atlanta order -- Ender Inciarte, Ozzie Albies, Freddie Freeman, Nick Markakis and Suzuki -- had two hits apiece. Markakis, who leads the National League with a .341 average, went 2-for-5.
Atlanta left 10 runners on base while New York stranded nine.
