Edmundo Sosa hit a three-run home run, J.T. Realmuto added a solo shot, a single and three RBIs and the host Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Texas Rangers 11-4 on Wednesday.
Bryce Harper also hit a solo home run, Alec Bohm contributed a two-run double and Brandon Marsh had two hits for the Phillies, who have won five in a row. Kyle Schwarber walked three times.
Philadelphia starter Taijuan Walker tossed 4 2/3 innings, giving up three runs on six hits. He walked four and struck out five. Matt Strahm (3-0) earned the win in relief.
Corey Seager had two hits, including a solo home run, Leody Taveras also went deep and Josh Smith added two hits and two RBIs for the Rangers, who have dropped three straight.
Texas struggled defensively, committing four errors.
Rangers starter Dane Dunning (3-3) lasted only 3 1/3 innings and allowed four hits and five runs (three earned). He issued one walk and fanned four.
In the seventh inning, Seager hit a solo shot off Gregory Soto to pull Texas within 10-4. Harper answered with a solo home run of his own in the eighth to close the scoring.
The Rangers went ahead 1-0 in the first inning when Smith hit an RBI single to right field.
In the second, Taveras launched a solo home run to center field for a 2-0 advantage. In the bottom of the frame, the Phillies leveled things at 2 on an RBI single by Marsh and a throwing error by Dunning that allowed Nick Castellanos to come home.
Dunning was trying to catch Marsh stealing second on the play.
Realmuto gave the Phillies a 3-2 lead in the third with his solo shot, and he extended his hitting streak to 12 games.
Sosa blasted his three-run homer off Jonathan Hernandez in the fourth for a 6-2 lead.
Smith added another RBI single in the fifth as the Rangers cut the deficit to 6-3.
The Phillies took a 10-3 advantage in the sixth when Realmuto hit a two-run single and Bohm added his two-run double with two outs.
