Cal Raleigh hit two home runs with five RBIs and Luis Castillo made a seventh consecutive quality start as the Seattle Mariners trounced the visiting New York Mets 12-1 Sunday night.
Jorge Polanco had three hits with a double and a homer and Dominic Canzone had two doubles for the Mariners, who won their fourth game in a row and remained tied with Houston atop the American League West.
Jeff McNeil hit a solo homer with two outs in the sixth inning for the Mets' lone run. New York was outscored 22-1 in being swept in the three-game series.
Castillo (10-11) allowed one run on four hits over six innings. The right-hander walked two and matched his season high with nine strikeouts.
Mets right-hander Luis Severino (7-6) took the loss, giving up four runs on six hits in five innings. He walked two and fanned eight.
The Mariners opened the scoring in the second inning as Polanco led off with a homer to center field.
It remained 1-0 until the fifth, when Canzone led off with a ground-rule double to right. Canzone advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Leo Rivas and scored on Randy Arozarena's two-out infield single. Raleigh hit the next pitch off the facade of the second deck in right field to make it 4-0.
Seattle pulled away with a six-run sixth.
Polanco greeted reliever Ryne Stanek, dealt from Seattle to New York before the trade deadline, with a double to right. Walks to Luke Raley and Josh Rojas loaded the bases. With one out, Rivas lined a run-scoring single to right. Victor Robles reached on an infield single, with second baseman McNeil's errant throw to first allowing a second run to score on the play.
With two outs, Raleigh hit a three-run shot to right to extend the lead to 10-1.
The Mariners scored twice more in the seventh, loading the bases on two walks and a single by Rojas. Robles walked to bring home the first run and Arozarena was hit by a pitch to score the second. Raleigh came up with the bases loaded but flew out to left to end the inning.
