Right-hander Tyler Beede won his second consecutive start and contributed an RBI single in a six-run seventh inning Sunday afternoon, guiding the San Francisco Giants to an 8-3 victory over the host Milwaukee Brewers.
Donovan Solano had a double and a single in the big seventh inning, while Brandon Belt added a solo homer for the Giants, who won two of three in the series to run their stretch of improved play to eight wins in their past 10 games.
After Christian Yelich homered in the sixth to offset Belt's blast in the fifth to create a 2-2 tie, Solano led off the seventh against Brewers reliever Corbin Burnes (1-5) with a double.
Beede, who had singled earlier in the game, then surprised the Brewers in a bunt situation by slashing a single to right-center, scoring Solano with the go-ahead run.
Stephen Vogt had an RBI double, Brandon Crawford a bases-loaded walk, Kevin Pillar a run-scoring infield single and Mike Yastrzemski an RBI groundout to add single runs before Solano made it an 8-2 game with a run-scoring single.
Beede (3-3) allowed a third Brewers run in the last of the seventh before leaving the game. He gave up seven hits in his 6 2/3 innings, with seven strikeouts and no walks.
The rookie had won just one of his first seven major league starts before kicking off his two-game winning streak with a 10-4 win at San Diego in his last outing.
Beede's two-hit game was the first of his career. He entered the contest with a career batting average of .063 (1-for-16).
Solano, Belt and Pillar also collected two hits apiece for the Giants, who have scored 75 runs in their past 10 games, including 18 in Beede's previous two starts.
Belt's homer was his 11th of the season.
Yelich, who hit his 32nd homer, collected two hits for the Brewers, as did Lorenzo Cain and Eric Thames.
Brewers starter Jhoulys Chacin did not get a decision after leaving a 2-1 game after the fifth inning. He held the Giants to one earned run (two total) on four hits. He walked two and struck out five.
The loss was Milwaukee's seventh in its past nine games.
