Atlanta Braves vs Miami Marlins Match Player Stats On Aug 10, 2019

Martin Prado hit a walk-off sacrifice fly in the 10th inning as the Miami Marlins rallied to defeat the visiting Atlanta Braves 7-6 on Saturday night.

The Marlins, who have the worst record in the National League, trailed 6-2 to start the bottom of the ninth before rallying against the NL East leaders.

Harold Ramirez started the winning rally with a single off reliever Sean Newcomb (5-2). Ramirez then raced to third when Newcomb's attempted pickoff throw to first was wild. Prado then hit his fly ball to left to win the game.

Jeff Brigham (2-1) earned the win with one scoreless inning of relief.

Braves starter Mike Soroka - a candidate for National League Rookie of the Year and Cy Young - pitched seven scoreless innings. He allowed three hits and one walk, striking out six.

Marlins right-hander Sandy Alcantara went 7 2/3 innings, allowing five hits, two walks and three runs, striking out six.

Alcantara had put up zeroes until the eighth, when Charlie Culberson opened Atlanta's big rally with a one-out single. After Culbertson advanced on a wild pitch, Ronald Acuna Jr. was walked intentionally, setting up a two-out duel with Ozzie Albies.

Alcantara was ahead in the count for the entire at-bat, but Albies fouled off five pitches before lining a hit off the pitcher's left leg. When the ball took a ricochet bounce into left field, Albies hustled his way into an RBI double.

Had the ball not hit Alcantara, Miami shortstop Deven Marrero likely makes the inning-ending play, maintaining a 0-0 score. Instead, the Marlins brought in reliever Jarlin Garcia, who allowed Freddie Freeman's two-run single for a 3-0 lead.

Miami got on the board in the bottom of the eighth when Curtis Granderson pulled a solo homer to right-center off reliever Anthony Swarzak. Brian Anderson added an RBI single, but Miami stranded Isan Diaz at third with two outs.

Pinch hitter Johan Camargo slugged a three-run homer in the ninth, giving Atlanta a 6-2 lead.

But the Marlins rallied with four runs in the bottom of the ninth, sending the game to extra innings. The Marlins got run-scoring singles from Diaz and Jon Berti and a two-run double by Starlin Castro.

The Marlins nearly won the game in that frame, but Diaz was thrown out at the plate while trying to score from first on Castro's double. Braves left fielder Adam Duvall made his relay throw to shortstop Culberson, who fired home to nail Diaz by a couple of inches.
