Brandon Drury hit his first career grand slam and drove in five runs, Justin Smoak and Randal Grichuk each homered and had four RBIs, and the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the visiting Texas Rangers 19-4 Monday night.
Danny Jansen added a two-run home run, and Bo Bichette had four hits and three runs for the Blue Jays in the opener of a three-game series. Drury extended his hitting streak to nine games. Smoak, Grichuk and Jansen each had three hits.
Nomar Mazara, Willie Calhoun and Rougned Odor homered for the Rangers.
After Neil Ramirez pitched a perfect first inning as Toronto's opener, Mazara hit his 16th homer with one out in the second against Brock Stewart (2-0). Stewart wound up allowing three runs and five hits in 5 1/3 innings.
The Blue Jays scored twice in the bottom of the second against Rangers starter Ariel Jurado (6-8). Grichuk led off with an infield single, Derek Fisher walked with one out and Drury hit an RBI single.
After Drury was forced out at second on Jansen's grounder, Bichette hit an RBI single and was out trying to extend it into a double.
Jurdado gave up eight runs and 11 hits in 3 2/3 innings.
The Blue Jays increased the lead to 5-1 with a three-run third. Smoak hit a two-run homer, his 19th, and Grichuk followed with his 21st long ball.
The Blue Jays scored eight runs in the fourth.
Jansen and Bichette singled with one out. Jansen took third on Cavan Biggio's flyout and scored on Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s single. Adrian Sampson replaced Jurado and allowed an RBI double to Smoak and a two-run double to Grichuk.
Sampson walked the next two batters to load the bases, and Drury hit the 14th homer of the season.
The Blue Jays added two in the fifth against Brett Martin on Smoak's RBI double and Grichuk's run-scoring groundout.
Biggio hit a two-run double in the sixth against Jesse Chavez.
In the seventh, Stewart allowed Calhoun's 10th homer and Odor's 21st before Buddy Boshers replaced him.
Rangers catcher Jeff Mathis pitched the eighth and allowed two hits, including Jansen's 11th homer.
Texas' Jose Trevino had an RBI single in the ninth against Justin Shafer.
