Evan Longoria grounded a go-ahead, two-run single into left field with one out in the seventh inning Sunday afternoon, propelling the San Francisco Giants to a 5-4 victory over the host Oakland Athletics and a two-game sweep of their interleague series.
After Oakland's Mark Canha had hit two home runs off San Francisco starter Logan Webb, five Giants relievers combined on 4 1/3 innings of one-hit, shutout relief, allowing the Giants to capture the season series 3-1 in the annual rivalry.
Neither team had scored since Canha's second home run, his 22nd of the season, had given the A's a 4-3 lead in the fourth before Oakland first baseman Matt Olson fumbled Brandon Crawford's grounder to open the gates in the seventh.
After Jake Diekman (1-7) walked Donovan Solano and hit Mike Yastrzemski to load the bases, Blake Treinen struck out Buster Posey for the first out. But Longoria hit the next pitch through the left side of the infield, and when a sliding Solano beat Robbie Grossman's errant throw to the plate, the Giants had the lead for good.
Sam Coonrod (4-0), who pitched a scoreless sixth inning, was credited with the win for the second day in a row. Will Smith worked around a review overturn on a Josh Phegley double with two outs in the ninth for his 30th save.
Canha's first homer, also a solo shot, came in the second inning and ignited a three-run rally after the Giants had taken a 2-0 lead in the top of the inning. Corban Joseph doubled in a run and Chad Pinder added an RBI single to give Oakland a 3-2 lead.
The Giants' two second-inning runs were the product of Stephen Vogt's sacrifice fly and an RBI single by Solano, who went 4-for-4 with a walk.
Longoria's 17th homer of the season, a solo shot, drew the Giants even at 3-3 in the third.
A's starter Brett Anderson was pulled after allowing three runs and six hits in six innings. He walked three and struck out two.
Making his second major league start, Webb was charged with four runs on six hits in 4 2/3 innings. He walked two and struck out two.
Longoria finished with three RBIs for the Giants, who completed a 5-4 road trip.
Canha's two-homer game was his second of the season for the A's, who had won six of seven from Houston and the New York Yankees before wrapping up their nine-game homestand with the pair of losses to the Giants.
