Arizona @ Milwaukee preview

Last Meeting ( Aug 10, 2010 ) Arizona 2, Milwaukee 1

The Arizona Diamondbacks haven’t won a road series against the Milwaukee Brewers in seven years.

Daniel Hudson has been nothing short of sensational in his first two starts with Arizona, though, and he could help end that dubious streak with another strong outing.

The young right-hander seeks a third straight win with his new team as the Diamondbacks continue a four-game series with the Brewers on Wednesday.

The woeful Diamondbacks had lost seven straight to Milwaukee prior to winning the first two contests of this series. On Tuesday, Barry Enright tossed six solid innings and Miguel Montero hit a go-ahead homer in a 2-1 win.

It was the sixth victory in seven games for the Diamondbacks, who now look to win their first series at Miller Park since 2003.

And Arizona has to like its chances with the emerging Hudson (3-1, 3.73 ERA) on the mound.

Since being acquired from the Chicago White Sox at the trade deadline, Hudson has allowed just two runs in 15 2/3 innings. The 24-year-old held the National League West-leading San Diego Padres to one run and three hits in 7 2/3 innings of a 3-1 victory on Friday.

Hudson has the good fortune of catching the Brewers at less than full strength. Milwaukee may be without both All-Star Corey Hart and slugging left fielder Ryan Braun again on Wednesday.

Hart (back) and Braun (wrist) have been out since Sunday. The loss of Braun hurts the most, since he was starting to heat up after a rough stretch. Braun was hitting .517 in seven games this month after batting .200 in July.

Still, their absences may not be a factor given Dave Bush’s success against Arizona. The right-hander is 5-1 with a 3.65 ERA in seven starts against the Diamondbacks.

Last September, Bush (5-9, 4.48) limited them to one run and five hits in seven innings of a 9-2 victory at Chase Field.

On Friday, he allowed two earned runs and seven hits in six innings but did not receive a decision in a 6-5 win over Houston. Prior to that outing, Bush had posted a 6.43 ERA over his previous four starts.

Milwaukee, which has won 14 of the last 22 meetings at Miller Park, is 3-2 on a seven-game homestand that ends Thursday.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
