Texas @ Oakland preview
Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum
Last Meeting ( May 16, 2016 ) Texas 1, Oakland 3
Texas second baseman Rougned Odor expects to be suspended prior to first pitch Tuesday when the Rangers visit the Oakland Athletics in the second contest of a three-game set. Odor delivered a right cross to the face of Toronto's Jose Bautista during a brawl Sunday and said Monday that he expects to be "suspended for a couple of games."
Odor and Bautista got into it after the Toronto right fielder slid hard into second base shortly after Bautista was plunked in the ribs by reliever Matt Bush. "I can tell when someone is coming hard to second base, so I was just trying to protect myself," Odor told reporters while emphasizing he has no regrets with his actions. Oakland posted a 3-1 victory in the series opener as Marcus Semien smacked his 10th homer of the season — most among American League shortstops — to help the squad win for the third time in four games. The victory snapped a four-game home losing streak for the Athletics, who are just 6-11 at Oakland Coliseum this season.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rangers LH Cole Hamels (4-0, 2.95) vs. Athletics RH Jesse Hahn (1-1, 3.00)
Hamels is 11-1 in 19 regular-season starts for Texas since being acquired from the Philadelphia Phillies prior to last season's trading deadline. He received a no-decision against the Chicago White Sox in his last turn when he gave up five runs (three earned) and nine hits in 5 2/3 innings. Hamels is 1-1 with a 1.29 ERA in two career starts against Oakland with the victory coming last Sept. 24 when he allowed one unearned run and four hits in six innings.
Hahn is being recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday to start in place of struggling Eric Surkamp, who will be optioned to the same minor-league club. He has made two big-league starts this season — tossing 6 2/3 scoreless innings while defeating Houston on April 30 before giving up five runs (four earned) and eight hits in 5 1/3 innings while losing to Baltimore in his next outing and subsequently getting demoted to Nashville. Hahn is 0-1 with a 6.52 ERA in two starts against Texas and has experienced difficulties with Mitch Moreland (3-for-6).
