Toronto @ Tampa Bay preview
Tropicana Field
Last Meeting ( May 7, 2013 ) Toronto 6, Tampa Bay 4
The Toronto Blue Jays fashioned their first three-game winning streak of the season Tuesday - but they were in no mood to celebrate after seeing pitcher J.A. Happ take a line drive off the side of his head and leave the field on a stretcher. The Blue Jays will try to regroup in time for Wednesday's resumption of their four-game series against the host Tampa Bay Rays. Toronto rallied for the second straight night, getting a go-ahead home run from Maicer Izturis en route to a 6-4 triumph.
To extend their winning ways, the Blue Jays will need to solve Tampa Bay ace Matt Moore. The lefty phenom has been one of the top pitchers in the majors but is coming off his worst outing to date. Toronto counters with fellow left-hander Ricky Romero, who had an up-and-down debut after opening the campaign in extended spring training. The Rays and Jays began the season as favorites in the AL East but reside in the division basement entering Wednesday's showdown.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Blue Jays LH Ricky Romero (0-1, 6.75 ERA) vs. Rays LH Matt Moore (5-0, 1.95)
Romero rejoined the Blue Jays with plenty of optimism after retooling his delivery in Florida. The 28-year-old cruised through the first three innings against Seattle before unraveling in the fourth as he was charged with three runs on three hits with three walks. Romero is 6-5 with a 4.22 ERA in 13 career starts against Tampa Bay. He would rather forget his last encounter with the Rays as he was torched for seven runs on eight hits in just one inning of work last Sept. 2.
With David Price still struggling and James Shields dealt to Kansas City in the offseason, Moore has assumed the role of Tampa Bay's No. 1 starter - and done so with emphasis. The 23-year-old had posted quality starts in four of his first five outings before stumbling against Colorado last time out, when he yielded four runs on seven hits over five innings. Moore is 1-1 with a 3.26 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 19 1/3 innings all-time against the Blue Jays.
WALK-OFFS
1. Blue Jays closer Casey Janssen has surrendered three hits in 12 innings in 2013 and hasn't walked a batter.
2. Tampa Bay has lost 13 games in which it has held a lead, the most in the majors.
3. Members of the Rays' roster are hitting a collective .214 in 131 at-bats against Romero.
PREDICTION: Rays 4, Blue Jays 2
