Last Meeting ( May 5, 2013 ) Detroit 9, Houston 0

The Detroit Tigers punished the Houston Astros earlier this month and attempt to do so again when they open a three-game series on Monday at Comerica Park. The Tigers swept a four-game series in Houston, outscoring the Astros 37-8. Houston moved to the American League this season and is making its first visit to Detroit since 2006. The Astros were swept by the Texas Rangers over the weekend to conclude a 2-8 homestand.

The Tigers are tied with Cleveland for first place in the American League Central after they dropped a 4-3, 10-inning game to the Indians on Sunday. Detroit was one out away from winning in the ninth when closer Jose Valverde blew the save. Houston enters the series with a four-game losing streak. The Astros are just 4-12 on the road and have the worst record in the majors at 10-28. The franchise’s previous worst 38-game mark was 12-26 in both 1967 and 1975.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
