Last Meeting ( May 14, 2013 ) Cincinnati 6, Miami 2

The Cincinnati Reds continue to find ways to win with regulars out of the lineup. The Reds look to extend their winning streak to five games when they visit the Miami Marlins for the second contest of a three-game set on Wednesday. Slugger Jay Bruce got his first day off Tuesday and Homer Bailey provided extra rest for the bullpen with a complete-game effort in a 6-2 victory. Joey Votto, Shin-Soo Choo and Brandon Phillips are off to All-Star worthy starts offensively for Cincinnati.

Outfielders Ryan Ludwick and Chris Heisey still are on the disabled list for the Reds and Giancarlo Stanton likely is out until June for Miami, which has scored a league-low 110 runs and lost six of its last seven. Votto and Choo stand at the top of the majors in on-base percentage, while Phillips is among the National League leaders with 33 RBIs.

Before that, the right-hander had given up three runs or fewer in four straight starts while winning two of three decisions. Opponents have collected 50 hits in 41 2/3 innings and are batting .303 vs. Leake, who surrendered three runs over six innings in his only career appearance against the Marlins in 2010. Greg Dobbs is 1-for-7 with a homer against Leake.

Sanabia has lost four straight starts, receiving a total of five runs of support in the last three. The 24-year-old has allowed three earned runs or fewer in five of seven outings, but opponents are batting .311 against him. Sanabia gave up five runs and six hits over six innings in a 10-6 loss to the Reds on April 21 that began his slide. Votto was 3-for-4 with a homer against Sanabia, who was facing Cincinnati for the first time.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
