Last Meeting ( May 17, 2013 ) Toronto 0, NY Yankees 5

Toronto's recent power surge was no match for Hiroki Kuroda in its series-opening 5-0 loss to New York Yankees. The Blue Jays seek revenge - and the start of a brand new winning streak - as they send Brandon Morrow to the hill Saturday afternoon. Kuroda limited Toronto to two hits over eight dominant innings, halting its season-high four-game winning streak while ending its string of contests with double-digit runs at three.

Morrow's start was pushed back twice, leaving him lined up against Yankees right-hander David Phelps. Both pitchers struggled in the early going but have been better of late. Neither team went deep in the opener, but that may change Saturday as the clubs rank among the major-league leaders in home runs. Toronto's big boppers did little Friday night, as Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion and J.P. Arencibia combined to go 2-for-12 with three strikeouts.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Blue Jays RH Brandon Morrow (1-2, 4.69 ERA) vs. Yankees RH David Phelps (1-2, 4.33)

Morrow will be making his first start in nearly two weeks after being sidetracked by neck and back soreness. The 28-year-old was pitching well prior to the break, surrendering eight earned runs over his previous three starts. Morrow is coming off his lone win, limiting Seattle to a pair of runs over eight innings while tying a season-high with eight strikeouts. He's 5-3 with a 4.01 ERA in 76 1/3 career innings against New York.

Phelps has been largely effective as a starter after struggling in a relief role. The 26-year-old has allowed seven runs over his three starts in 2013, and is coming off his best outing of the year - a 6 2/3-inning stint in which he held Cleveland to one run on four hits but was saddled with a 1-0 loss. Phelps has faced Toronto twice this season, blowing a save in an 8-4 Yankees' loss April 21 and whiffing nine over four sensational relief innings to earn his lone win five days later.

WALK-OFFS

1. The Yankees are 17-0 when scoring first.

2. Blue Jays LF Melky Cabrera had two of his team's four hits Friday and is batting .361 in May.

3. Members of the New York roster are batting .222 with eight homers in 243 at-bats against Morrow.

PREDICTION: Blue Jays 7, Yankees 4

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
