Tampa Bay @ Baltimore preview

Oriole Park at Camden Yards

Last Meeting ( May 18, 2013 ) Tampa Bay 10, Baltimore 6

Strong pitching rarely has been highlighted as the Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays have split eight meetings this season, with each team producing 53 runs. Seven-game winner Matt Moore looks to change that as he and the Rays attempt to complete a three-game sweep at Baltimore on Sunday. Tampa Bay scored 22 times in taking the first two games of the series, rallying for six runs in the ninth inning on Saturday to post a 10-6 victory. The Rays have won eight of 10 while the Orioles have dropped four straight.

Moore is playing the stopper role with 2012 Cy Young Award winner David Price struggling and injured. Tampa Bay has been one of baseball’s best offensive teams the last month, joining the Orioles near the top of the league in runs. Chris Davis is among the league leaders with 12 home runs and 40 RBIs (15 against Tampa Bay) for Baltimore, which totaled 26 hits over the last two games.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
