Los Angeles @ Milwaukee preview

Miller Park

Last Meeting ( May 21, 2013 ) LA Dodgers 2, Milwaukee 5

The timely hits have not come often enough for the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are now in danger of suffering a second straight series loss when they wrap up a six-game road trip against the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday. Los Angeles went 3-for-14 with runners in scoring position and left 14 men on in a 5-2 loss Tuesday. The win put the Brewers in position for their first series win since taking two of three from Pittsburgh from April 29-May 1.

The first two games of that series also mark the last time the Brewers won consecutive games, but they're in line to do that as well after the bullpen combined for 5 2/3 scoreless innings Tuesday. Clutch hitting has been a problem all season for the Dodgers, who are hitting .222 with runners in scoring position.

TV: 1:10 p.m. ET, Prime Ticket (Los Angeles), Fox Sports Wisconsin (Milwaukee)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Dodgers LH Hyun-Jin Ryu (4-2, 3.42 ERA) vs. Brewers RH Wily Peralta (3-4, 5.94)

Ryu labored through five innings last time out at Atlanta, allowing two runs on five hits with a season-high five walks in a no-decision. It was the first time all season he failed to go at least six innings. The 26-year-old South Korean will face the Brewers for the first time.

Peralta has lost two straight starts and he was hit hard his last time out, allowing seven runs (six earned) on 11 hits over five innings in a 7-6 loss at St. Louis. He is 2-2 with a whopping 6.49 ERA in five home starts but he pitched well in his last outing at Miller Park, notching a quality start to beat Texas on May 7.

WALK-OFFS

1. Dodgers 1B Adrian Gonzalez is 53-for-157 (.338) against the Brewers, the second-highest average against Milwaukee among active players.

2. The Brewers are 0-18 when scoring fewer than four runs and 2-16 when allowing more than four.

3. Peralta beat the Dodgers on April 27 in Los Angeles, allowing three runs on six hits over six innings.

PREDICTION: Dodgers 6, Brewers 4

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
